loveparade.net says 1.200.000 people were there this year. So what source says 1.000.000?

There are several sources in german newspaper that the counting for love parade 2007 and 2008 are faked. We need a note that the counting are possibly faked. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.53.80.9 (talk) 15:38, 31 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Which cities still have Love Parade?

edit

The intro paragraph says "Only the Acapulco, Tel Aviv, Santiago, and Berlin Love Parades continue to operate." Does this mean specifically "...continue to operate with the official license of the Berlin Love Parade organization"? Because San Francisco still has its Love Fest, which is simply called by a different name and not licensed (according to a later section of the article). I think the sentence is misleading as it currently stands, so I am going to delete it soon unless someone can explain sentence more clearly and provide a good source. Dave Runger 04:58, 14 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have deleted the sentence since it is at best misleading and unsourced, and at worst false. Dave Runger 17:19, 22 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
It is stated that Zurich has a Love Parade. I certainly doubt it because they have the Street_Parade. Saemikneu (talk) 23:20, 10 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Quality of English

edit

The English in this article is pretty poor, as a native English and German speaker I can see that large parts have been translated directly from the german, for example:

The Love Parade may be a dinosaur
the parade produces a sound floor of many megawatts. The parade basically lives through those trucks.

This needs to be worked on. John Hayes - On Vacationtalk 10:57, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

"the german"? And you claim to be a native English speaker? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.181.37.37 (talk) 19:21, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

He probably meant, "the german version". In any case, he's right about the examples he gave so why go all ad-hominem on him? 80.128.83.154 (talk) 21:45, 22 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Spelling

edit

"Loveparade" is and has always been spelled as one word (as opposed to "Love Parade"). This article should be amended accordingly.

Maybe in German, but in English "Love Parade" is overwhelmingly more common: Google finds 1,140,000 vs 334,000 for English-language pages. Jpatokal (talk) 14:55, 21 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Irrelevant. It is a name and it should be kept in its original even though it may look strange to a native speaker. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.225.248.86 (talk) 16:32, 23 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

No. Wikipedia naming conventions suggest that the most common name should be used for an article. The current spelling is clearly more common in the English-Speaking world. Averell (talk) 09:55, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Megawatts

edit

This statement cannot be accurate:

"With its water-cooled sound systems on every truck, the parade produces an extremely loud sound floor of many megawatts"

The largest subwoofer in the world can only consume 1kW of power*. I don't believe it can be accurate to say that the Loveparade is composed of speaker systems (or a "sound floor") of many megawatts. Thus, I changed the page, and I'm explaining the change here (is that the wrong way to go about using the Talk page? If so, my bad). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.74.102.163 (talk) 23:37, 25 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Madonna

edit

How can the Love Parade be the subject of Madonna's song Dear Jessie? Dear Jessie is on the Album Like a Prayer which was recorded back in 1988 and released spring 1989. The Love Parade didn't even exist then!

Anyone knows which kind of "love parade" the song is about? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.65.1.9 (talk) 08:52, 27 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Rollergirl covered "Dear Jessie" in 1999 and and the Loveparade is subject of this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHgdFTb2ZnA --Neubsen (talk) 19:54, 7 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Anthem

edit

I just can't understand. 1-st love parade was in 1989, so what this string means "1997 Dr. Motte and Westbam Sunshine"? is this a year, then single was released, or this means date of love parade?--80.246.245.150 (talk) 10:57, 8 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, 1989. The anthem is for 1997. Jpatokal (talk) 05:36, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Copyedit/Rewrite

edit

I copyedited a part of the article, as large parts sounded like they had been written by a raver as an instruction to go there. I also added some addition info from the German page. I didn't do any additional fact-checking, but the page is dearly missing citations. This shouldn't be so hard as this is a well-publicized event. But facts like "it's louder" or "it's one of the main/first/whatever festivals" need sources, or need to be removed. Averell (talk) 09:19, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Bottom of this page is not displayed properly, dont know how to fix it —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.42.206.32 (talk) 00:09, 11 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Neutrality

edit

I removed "Many critics have suggested that if the Parade had not been forced to relocate from the wide avenues of Berlin this tragedy would not have happened." because of weazel words. The current consensus in the media is that organizers and authorities have made severe planning mistakes (reference: Just about any German language newspaper). Internetexploder (talk) 20:28, 26 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

In the meantime, the sentence was re-inserted. I would propose to delete it, because the phrase "many critics" is misleading - a handful of voices are irrelevant, given the scale of the incident.Internetexploder (talk) 07:48, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Trivia section

edit

The entire section is written in such bad English, it's pretty difficult to figure out what's going on. The only thing that is perhaps worth of note is the bicycle lock affixed to a tree. Everything else seems to be just hearsay. I suggest removing the entire "Trivia" section and simply leaving the picture with the bicycle lock in the main section. Perhaps with an "allegedly" added to it. 2A02:8108:1400:5D6F:428D:D099:8878:583D (talk) 17:17, 19 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
