Committee list and first speech refs edit

Could someone please point me to the consensus on en WP that parliamentary committee membership and themes of first speeches or even other significant speeches are "unencyclopedic"? Thanks, Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 06:36, 9 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Australian politician articles do not feature committee lists (unless they are added to stub articles by editors in good faith or not, and are not reverted). To me, that is standing consensus. Could you imagine if we had committee lists for every politician. I removed the part about the speech because it was WP:OR as the editor surmised themes of speeches based on a link to a hansard list, and the reference was not formatted correctly. Reads like POV editing. Hope this helps. Feel free to improve the article! J2m5 (talk) 06:43, 9 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. So there isn’t a discussion of this issue anywhere you are aware of? Because I consider information about committee membership to be germane to the interests and influence of politicians, and therefore relevant to their articles. I have added such information to over a dozen articles on Australian politicians for that very reason. On what basis are you suggesting it is unimaginable that we do so? Would be too long; too much compliance with constantly updating committees for all 837 Australian politicians whose cmte assignments change all the time, leading to pages with constantly outdated information; not the sort of information which belongs in an encyclopedia in my opinion (the information can be easily gotten on parliamentary websites). Just because information is "germane" to the interests of politicians doesn't mean that belongs on Wikipedia. A simple look at most other countries' politician pages also do not have committee memberships. J2m5 (talk) 02:44, 14 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
A GA-class article would have discussion of politicians' activities in their committee assignments where there are reliable sources discussing such. J2m5 (talk) J2m5 (talk) 02:47, 14 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
