I gather that there's no real record of its ownership after 1327 or so?

Is there any actual archaeological evidence that the castle was destroyed by Rhys Gryg, or was that just the usual medieval hyperbole?

No... The castle needed repairing later, but historians are cagey about coming to a firm view of whether Rhys actually did any thing to it. Hchc2009 (talk) 11:53, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

Curious that the castle wasn't apparently involved in any of the later conflicts with the Welsh or in the ECW. But I suppose that it remained under English control or had already become derelict during those conflicts. But saying so would probably be OR without a souce.

Into OR here, but I think it was because it was so far west that it was outside the main theatre of ops. Plus, by the ECW at least, it would have been really easy pickings for even a light artillery piece. Hchc2009 (talk) 11:53, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
