  •   @DigitalIceAge: New enough and long enough. QPQ pending. Hook fact checks out and there are no textual issues. I have clipped all the newspapers.com citations (if you don't have access, consider applying) and also consolidated a "25 years ago" mention with the actual article referenced. Tick will come when QPQ is supplied. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 00:44, 22 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
    • QPQ given. Thanks for the review and cleanup, Sammi Brie! I will consider applying for Newspapers.com access at the Wikipedia Library. I've been able to work around the subscription nag screens with a bookmark, but it sure is handy having access to the page scans. DigitalIceAge (talk) 17:00, 22 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
      •   The recommendation to do so, in exactly the same situation you were in, was the single best thing that happened to my Wikipedia career—I have the second-most clippings on the project, and I've had 377 DYKs and 32 GAs to date since then, most using at least one clipping. QPQ has been supplied, so a tick is granted. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 17:04, 22 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Homing in on a signal edit

"Honing in" on a signal is a verbal corruption of the original idiom which refers to techniques such as active radar homing, which in turn refers to homing (biology). Elizium23 (talk) 11:54, 7 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Note that I already corrected "hone" to "home" before you posted. Caching? IAmNitpicking (talk) 22:06, 7 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
