The Lorenz beam blind landing system was a Ground-Controlled Approach device in use from around the 1930s. The Lorenz beam and its successor SBA/TBA was very definitely pilot interpreted - this is from personal experience in use of the system as a trainee RAF pilot in 1958.

Consol/Sonne
editThe Consol navigation system that was in use during and after the war is as far as I understand a version of this. I have added a few sentences about it and added redirects from consol_navigation_system and sonne_navigation_system since I could not find any separate articles about that. I'm no expert on this, but I have based it on this webpage: http://www.jproc.ca/hyperbolic/consol.html. But still someone who know something about it should probably write more about it. Is this the Diamond-Dunmore system?
editThe Diamond-Dunmore blind-landing system was developed in the late 1920s and became an international standard in the 1930s. I see that E. Kramar at Lorenz cites that system in his 1935 paper, and I'm wondering if this "Lorenz beam" is actually just the German version of the D-D system? Oddly, there is no wikipedia article about the Diamond-Dunmore system. There is an article on [Harry Diamond (engineer)].
