Re changes to the period after 1603: the chronology seems in question, with several different versions in the literature. Henry Brouncker may have only been President 1603-4. I know nothing about Henry Becher's role. Charles Matthews (talk) 21:01, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

It seems that Henry Becher or Beecher had William Lyon (bishop) as father-in-law, having married his daughter Mary, and resided at Castlemahon. Charles Matthews (talk) 22:29, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

See on Becher [2] and various other pieces of original research on the Web. It seems likely to me that Becher had plenty of local recognition as a military leader, but no status in the eyes of London. There is further Pollard's suggestion that Thomond took over from 1605. More likely Brouncker had the nominal title, but had made such a bad job of the position that he had little power on the ground. The article should reflect the reliable sources, naturally.
