Talk:Long As I Can See the Light

New page patrol peer review edit

This was a long standing redirect, which was recently fleshed into a full-fledged, if short, article. This is not the usual song article, where it's easy to see notability due to charting history. Barkeep49's decision to mark this reviewed was the correct one. I also like that they went the extra step and inserted a ref section. What I would like to see is something that I try to do when I review, and that's to tag and/or fix the bare URL's. Onel5969 TT me 16:43, 16 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Long As I Can See the LightLong as I Can See the Light – Per MOS:TITLECAPS; 'as' is a preposition. — Mar(c).[talk] 16:23, 27 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose. Per the Cambridge Dictionary, "as long as" and "so long as" are conjunctions. This BYU-Idaho site specifically states that it is a subordinating conjunction. Subordinating conjunctions are capitalized per the MOS.  Bait30  Talk 2 me pls? 18:48, 27 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. I agree with Bait30. "I Can See the Light" is a complete sentence, so "as" is a conjunction here, not a preposition. Darkday (talk) 17:02, 1 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the input. I guess you two are right, this request wasn't thought out enough.
It's strange that a search for page titles with "Long As" gives only 2 articles of creative works with "(As) Long As" (this one and As Long As We Keep Moving), plus about 23 redirects with "(As) Long As" redirecting to articles with "(As/as) Long as". Btw, one of those redirects is 'my own' —after renaming As Long As I Live to As Long as I Live (1946 film) last week, I changed the redirect target to the new disambiguation page— so it was 3 vs ~22; most of the other redirects seem to be created with page moves in the past (without any discussion, as far as I can tell).
I'll probably change those "As Long as I Live"s (back) to "As Long As I Live", and consider a multi-request for the 20+ "(As/as) Long as" articles, unless this discussion goes into another direction.
    With kind regards — Mar(c).[talk] 19:27, 1 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
