Detailed explanation of content added and edited for Wiki Education Assignment:
Added a section titled “Reception and American Response,” which involved moving text relating to President Truman and Bevin that was originally in the Lead to this new section and its subsection, “President Truman.” I do not think the information detailing this specific aspect to Truman’s response, while important, belongs in the Lead.
Also in this new section, added “Series of Events After the Issue was Passed Along to the United Nations,” which houses a brief explanation of the events after and a result of the conference. Since I used wikilinks in this short paragraph, I did not elaborate more than needed to avoid over-explaining irrelevant information. An additional subsection titled “Trusteeship Plan” was added, since the trusteeship concept was tossed around during the conference.
I also added a short additional explanation of the London Conference of 1946-1946 which includes the ultimate direct outcome, since it is what the majority of the article leads to.
In the Background section, I added additional background information that is useful to know when looking at the topic. I also changed the positioning of text that I had previously added to the “Outcome” section, so it now fits the chronological order of events. This specifically was due to a suggestion from a peer reviewer on my personal draft. Finally in this section, I added additional information referencing the Biltmore Conference, which was a necessary precursor to the events that follow. Added appropriate citations and introduced a new source (Caplan). I also added a link to the PDF of the Cabinet Minutes often referenced in the article.
For the First Conference section, I changed the title to better represent those involved. It previously was titled “Arab League,” but I could not find a source that specifically limited the conference to that group. I also added additional information in the middle oof the section about Eliyahu Sasson since I believe it to be important content for the conference and often left out of discussion.
It was important for me to add content about the 22nd World Zionist Congress, especially since the event does not have it’s own Wikipedia page. I added information after the first sentence that was already there that gave further information about the content discussed during the 22nd World Zionist Conference. I added a translated source (Weizmann)
In the Second Conference section, I added further information about the Jewish Agency and Arab League discussions, and added a primary source (Egan).
For the Outcome section, I added additional information about a statement that was issued four days before the statement that the existing content discussed. I also added a final additional sentence to this section.
The Reception and American Response section has already been addressed. I also added a brief See Also section that specifically links helpful Wikipedia articles. Sgm123445 (talk) 01:35, 3 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
