Talk:Logarithmic distribution

Latest comment: 6 years ago by InternetArchiveBot in topic External links modified

In the Mathematica Help Browser, the following is about the >logarithmic series distribution<:

"The distribution of the number of items of a product purchased by a buyer in a specified <interval> is sometimes modeled by >this distribution<."

How is the <interval> related to the distribution parameters ?

Does anyone know, where to get more Information about that ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.172.218.214 (talkcontribs)

Log(p)-distributed random variables

edit

what the fuck is a "Log(p)-distributed random variable"??? --Philtime (talk) 12:23, 6 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

A random variable whose probability distribution is the one given in the article. That is clearly stated there. Michael Hardy (talk) 16:16, 6 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

MGF mistake

edit

I think there is a mistake in MGF.

In the article there is: MGF = ln(1-p*exp(t))/ln(1-p)

It should be: MGF = ln((1-p)*exp(t))/ln(1-p)

Because Ee^tk = sum_{k=1}_{\infty} -1/(ln(1-p)) * p^k/k*e^k*t = -1/(ln(1-p)) * sum_{k=1}_{\infty} (p*e^t)^k/k* = |Taylor expansion| = ln((1-p)*exp(t))/ln(1-p) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eol1410 (talkcontribs) 12:31, 6 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
