An anon user added: although it is probably named after Queen Isabel, wife of Robert the Bruce). This seems unlikely, contradicts the Queen Vic explanation also given in the article and the external refs, therefore I'm removing it.--JBellis 18:19, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Queen's View revisited

I think some more robust sources are required for the assertion that it was named after Queen Isabel in or around the time of the Battle of Methven in 1306, considering that Isabel supposedly died before the Bruce married Elizabeth de Burgh in 1302... I'm no history expert on Scotland, but maybe it is actually supposed to be named after Queen Elizabeth de Burgh before she was captured and handed over to King Edward I as a hostage? Perhaps local folklore has it wrong, or simply the Scottish Natural Heritage Commissioned Report No. 374 source material is incorrect. Now, Isabella MacDuff, Countess of Buchan, was also a significant figure in the Wars of Scottish Independence, and was also imprisoned by Edward, so perhaps this is where a certain confusion between names has arisen?
