Reliable sources, promotional material, and inclusion criteria edit

Per this discussion, consensus found that production companies should be explicitly identified in reliable sources. This is to prevent original research based on primary sources, such as interpreting logos or bylines found on trailers, posters, and official websites. We don't know what a logo means in this context – it could be almost anything: production, distribution, financing, or maybe just a contractual obligation. It doesn't necessarily mean that they're a production company. Absent reliable sources that have identified someone as a production company, we should not be adding these films to this list. From what I've seen of how reliable sources catalog these films, just because Sony is making or distributing a film does not necessarily mean that Columbia is involved. Similarly, there are many films that have the Columbia logo on them somewhere, but reliable sources do not classify them as Columbia Pictures films, instead saying that they are Sony Pictures films. I don't know why they do this, and I don't know how they separate "Sony Pictures films" from "Columbia Pictures films". It seems kind of random to me. However, because this is done, I think we should follow their lead. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 20:14, 8 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. —KuyaBriBriTalk 19:26, 16 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Split edit

This page is really long, I suggest to split by decade like Paramount page is done. Picsovina (talk) 15:28, 13 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

If there is no objection, I will do the split sometime this week. Picsovina (talk) 13:43, 22 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Co-productions edit

Many films are listed as "distribution only" and co-productions with some company. They can't be both. Trivialist (talk) 10:04, 28 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Missing decade lists edit

Since the list of films by this studio was broken up by decade, lists for films from the 1940s-70s and 1990s are still missing. Does anyone know what's holding things up? IceWalrus236 (talk) 23:59, 4 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
