Where are we going with this page? edit

More to the point: what am I doing?? Should it redir to Table of years in the environment? What is the relationship to a Timeline of the environment? I am uncovering a lot of structural issues here. I have created Template:Year nav topic4 which can be used as a method of not linking to List of years in the environment. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 10:42, 15 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

I support reversion to my edit. I don't know why, but all the "subjects in year" series I've ever seen have had both a table of years and a list of years. The table might be used for transclusion into templates. Either way, the apparent redundancy between the list and table is not a big deal. Abyssal (talk) 16:52, 20 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
Having a simple list of years would be redundant to the better layout the can be seen in the table of years. I want to achieve something that is sort of like 2012 in science List of years in literature. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 21:09, 20 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
I know it's redundant, but I think it's the convention. Abyssal (talk) 21:43, 20 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
I cannot see a convention. See:
*List of years in science
They are redirects to a timeline aor there is a "List of years in" page with a list of events. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 21:50, 20 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
It didn't used to be that way; the years in archeology series is what got my interest in year articles in the first place. Abyssal (talk) 22:40, 20 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
The List of years in archaeology has always been a table so I redirected it to Table of years in archaeology. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 23:00, 20 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
