Less formal designations? edit

I'd like to see some sort of explanation of less formal terms such as "slightly foxed" (I'm told this derives from Ferric Oxide, but haven't been able to find a more thorough explanation). Anyone here who's a book dealer or expert who could contribute? Critterkeeper (talk) 03:20, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I agree the definitions should be less formal. This is the first time I've seen a wikipedia article that says in the body "The words below are direct quotations and thus should not be changed." I removed that notice.
Someone must have deleted the mention of "slightly foxed" from the article. See foxing for an explanation of that term.
As it is, the list is missing "reading copy" which appears on Abebooks' version of this list. --Marc Kupper|talk 00:37, 5 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hey guys - this article is about the words used to put books in different collectable levels. Words that tell us why a book is on what level, such as "foxing", are on a different list - a book collecting glossary. Here is an example of such a list outside of Wikipedia: AbeBooks' Glossary of Book Terms . -GroveGuy (talk) 05:13, 5 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
