Talk:List of tribal councils in British Columbia

Just drafted this up based on the shortlist (relatively out-of-date, though) at http://www.aboriginalcanada.com/firstnation/dirfnbc.htm. I ordered them alphabetically just now, according to their current operating name as appears to be from most recent websites, e.g. BCtreaty.net. My intent is to lay out these out as a table directory (see List of crossings of the Fraser River for basic layout/concept, though with different column-headings) with ethnic/lingistic information and member bands, sub-councils, parallel treaty councils...I had to do something to try and keep it all straight; a similar table formatting is recommended for List of First Nations governments in British Columbia, where the alphabetical listing is pretty well useless without some kind of notion of which TC they belong to, which ethnic groups and languages are affiliiated with each, whether they're in or out of the treaty process, and where they are etc. But I'm burned out for the night, with only Semahquam left in the Interior (well, almost Coast; it's on the Lillooet River) and all the Coast Salish stubs yet to be done; and whatever I can figure out about the remaining Kwakwaka'wakw that don't have government articles yet; and then southern BC is done, up to the Prince George area anyway, albeit only insofar as government stubs is concerned; still a lot of work for someone else to do someday (I do have to find a life, one of these days....); just trying to lay out the framework....Skookum1 09:32, 21 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
