10 Iranian players

The top 10 scorers are wrong

Not only were individual details wrong (which I fixed) but the top 10 goal scorers, whose names have been tabulated are not really the top 10 goalscorers. Before the number 10 person, there was:

• Thank you. That's right. I fixed number ten based on RSSSF. I think the rest as well need to be updated. As it is not an all-time top international goal scorers list, we need to consider each country's top scorer only. Also, the Israeli player Mordechai Spiegler has only 25 official goals as ruled by FIFA, shouldn't FIFA records be seen superior to the perhaps biased information coming from the Israeli federation? Unofficial records should certainly not count in the case of a supposedly "official" list. The IFA have on the record that he's scored 32.

Mistake

Gary Lineker (48 goals in 80 games) is missing.

UAE flag doesn't display

There appears to be a problem Wikipedia-wide with the display of the UAE flag - I played with it in the sandbox and never got it to display correctly. Firefox displays text and exploder displays a blank white square. Olivier Karekezi

I've noticed that a few of Karekezi's goals came against Zanzibar who are not FIFA members so would these goals count towards the official total? Phatmann (talk) 12:30, 30 November 2011 (UTC)

Why not? Those are from the CECAFA Cup, surely matches against them would still be official for the Rwandan FA. It would also be like the case of Northern Marian Islands. Guam's top scorer Zachery Pangelinan, has scored goals against them in the East Asian Championship. The Northern Mariana Islands aren't FIFA or even AFC members but matches against them are official for the Guam FA. Banana Fingers (talk) 12:44, 30 November 2011 (UTC)

Mexico

Edit war regarding list of top international association football goal scorers

Hi everyone! Recently, I've been engaged in an edit war with User:GoalsGalore regarding the counting of official caps and goals of the soccer players. The user states that, the caps & goals that aren't officially acknowledged or counted by FIFA but by the football association or federation of the respective players' country, should also be included in the list. Should those be counted as fully official statistics, though not counted as official ones by FIFA? — Swastik Chakraborty (User talk) 05:06, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

This is where you're a noob (though I won't fully fault you on it to be a little fair, it's your stubbornness to actually try and consider what your being told is your problem, in fact your logic about full internationals is doesn't even make sense) when it comes to international stats! For starters read the the following link here. Now, if you really read that international caps are not awarded by FIFA!! Caps are awarded on the basis on which matches are considered official by the FA's. But yes, full FIFA matches are a good start for what to consider as official but that in itself has problems, again read the link provided!! Now, with regards to Ashfaq, the Maldives FA considers the match against Laos in 2014 as a full international match as stated by RSSSF. Therefore, all players that appeared for the Maldives in that match earn a cap and same thing for the scorers such as Ashfaq, the goals are counted towards their international stats. If you still can't comprehend this then you need to lay off the stats. In fact, to further explain this matter, you even edited the stats in the Spain national football team article and added new sources. Those sources include a friendly against Equatorial Guinea in 2013 which isn't a full FIFA match but is official for the Spanish FA. Hence why the players who appeared in that match have earned a cap as listed in the European Football Database source you provided! GoalsGalore (talk) 16:10, 9 January 2016 (UTC)

You are making things totally complicated. RSSSF is not the one, who's gonna decide a player's tally of international caps & goals (though their sources are considered authentic), football's world body FIFA decides that. And I do think that the stats considered official by FIFA, are being taken for granted by everybody. Whatever you think as correct, others may not. So, please don't try to convince everyone about the stats that you consider to be the real one & let senior editors decide about it. And you don't have to measure my stubbornness. RSSSF merely collates this information (and other football stats) so the public such can have access to this kind of info! It's that simple! Stats for Sunil Chettri

The recent edit war is from what I can see about the stats for Indian footballer Sunil Chettri. One editor wants 50 goals in 88 caps, and the other editor 51 goals in 89 caps. But to me the source on that row indicates 48 goals and 84 caps? What is correct? Please discuss instead of edit warring. Qed237 (talk) 13:39, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

Continued to look at other places and could not find much but National-football-teams has 50 goals in 88 apps in FIFA matches and 51 goals in 89 matches overall, while RSSSF list has him on 51 goals in 88 matches and his individual RSSSF has 48 goals in 84 caps. I'd go with 50 goals and 88 caps, in the article List of international goals scored by Sunil Chhetri that's what the majority of the sources say. Chhetri did score one goal in an unofficial match which could be the cause of the confusion, and the subject also recently part in a u-23 tournament. Inter&anthro (talk) 16:48, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

Hossam Hassan's International Statstics

What is the actual number of official international appearances that Hossam Hassan made and the offical number of goals that he scored for Egypt between 1985 and 2006? The List of footballers with 100 or more caps page currently says 178 appearances, but his actual wiki page says 169 appearances and 69 goals, and the list of all-time goal scorers page also says he made 169 appearances (and scored 69 goals). The two FIFA sources on his page (169 appearances; 69 goals) and the RSSSF (178 appearances; 68 goals) source cited on his page appear to be giving conflicting information, and the stats table further down shows a different number altogether (176 appearances; 68 goals).
