"...prompting one opponent to suggest that the U.S. national debt should be named for him."

Now this is a good idea. Why do people want to name things after Reagan anyway, instead of, say, Eisenhower (is he on the half-dollar or is that Kennedy, I forget)?

  • Shouldn't the national debt be named for those who hold the purse strings?--WinOne4TheGipper (talk) 21:06, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Help verifying items edit

This article is mentioned on Something Awful, in a contest they've been holding to add false but plausible sounding info to articles on Wikipedia. I'm going through and trying to cite stuff, but would appreciate help as it's a large list and there's a lot to look up. So if anyone has this on their watchlist/comes across it and feels like doing some Googling, feel free to chip in. Raven1977 (talk) 18:47, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ronald Reagan Memorial Pig Roast? edit

I could only find one source for this, a blog on Daily Kos. I'm not sure if that's a reliable source, but I'm leaving it be for now because it's probably true, but I'm tagging it as needing a cite. Raven1977 (talk) 18:47, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Incorrect title? edit

"named for" is very bad English! The correct phrase is "Named AFTER" - 'named for' is a corruption of English unique to North America. Similarly, 'honors' is spelt incorrectly, its a US specific spelling - the proper English spelling is "honours". Not sure why yanks always insist on mangling the English language so! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.4.11.148 (talk) 02:26, 17 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

In this case, honors is the correct spelling. The subject, Ronald Reagan, is an American and therefore American English spelling should be used (just as British English spelling should be used for someone such as Margaret Thatcher). I think 'Named for' is probably the best usage here as well, as not everything listed is techinically 'named after' Reagan. Please let me know, though, if you disagree. A simple list is bad article form edit

There should be no articles that are just a list of information, even if it is all relevant to something somehow. Everything should be tied together by some sort of "narrative thread". If one can't think of a way to tie things together in a narrative then one should consider that the article doesn't make any sense to begin with. I added the "trivia" tag in this spirit. As is this article is nothing more than a trivia list. I'm putting the tag back. But if people want to revert back again perhaps we should discuss here. Anyway I think if one looks closely at what the message says that goes along with the "trivia" tag, then they will see that it is appropriate to this article in its present state.Ekwos (talk) 07:42, 27 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I found there is a "prose" tag that better means what I intended.Ekwos (talk) 07:59, 27 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Now I do agree with that :) Happyme22 (talk) 23:56, 27 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Presidential $1 Coin Program edit

Why is there no mention of the 2016 planned release of a $1 Coin to depict his likeness? RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 06:46, 5 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Are "things" the right word edit

I was wondering if the word "things" is the right word for that very description.

I don't mind either way but I was just wondering whether another word could be used instead? 49.3.72.79 (talk) 13:27, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
