Update: Shi Ping (1 November 1912-) edit

see Shi Ping Coddlebean (talk) 03:23, 10 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Until his claim is approved by an organization specializing in extreme age verification, he does not meet the criteria for this article. The same goes for Gerneth. Softmist (talk) 05:02, 10 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Ethel Caterham days lived is wrong edit

According to the age calculator I found Ethel Caterham is only 114 years 205 days old as of March 14, not "206" days. She shouldn't appear on the list until March 15. GermanShepherd1983 (talk) 13:27, 14 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

GRG also lists Caterham as 114 years 205 days on March 14. https://gerontology.fandom.com/wiki/Oldest_living_people GermanShepherd1983 (talk) 17:45, 14 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Gerontology wikia is NOT a reliable source. The age is correct based on the date as per the UTC. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 19:53, 14 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
So GRG is the authoritative word on verification but not length of time they've lived? OK, if you say so. GermanShepherd1983 (talk) 02:25, 15 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
The Gerontology Wiki is not affliliated with the GRG. Milus331 (talk) 17:12, 19 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Updates edit

When deceased names are added to the list PLEASE put in the update who was added. Otherwise we have no way of knowing who was added, just that someone was because whomever was at 100 was bumped out. Wiki has a place that says "reason for update". Please make an effort to use it GermanShepherd1983 (talk) 00:55, 7 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Update of men oldest edit

the oldest man is currently https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fauja_Singh none the one mentioned on this page

Please see the Shi Ping topic above. The same applies. Softmist (talk) 17:11, 22 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Keep a watch for Vincent Dransfield edit

I do not see Vincent Dransfield listed yet in "Supercentenarian Data -- Table E". Gerontology Research Group Index Page, as of [1997 - 2007]. 2024-04-02. GRG World Supercentenarian Rankings List]; however, given that Dransfield's birth date is 1914-03-28 & that his birthday was six days before GRC compiled the current list, it is probable that he was not a high priority for certification.

As of 28 August 2025, it appears that Dransfield would be eligible for the List of the verified oldest people#100 verified oldest men, should he live that long & be verified by the GRC.

Peaceray (talk) 20:48, 22 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

According to this, Dansfield is validated https://gerontology.fandom.com/wiki/Vincent_Dransfield GermanShepherd1983 (talk) 00:17, 7 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
As he is several months too young for inclusion in this list, this thread violates the note at the top of this talk page: "This is not a forum for general discussion of the article's subject." DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 01:08, 7 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Source 11 is dead edit

The NHK article link returns some sort of "no article found" error. The article on Kane Tanaka's death seems to be gone 91.230.13.164 (talk) 16:44, 10 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

I added the archive URL information & marked the original as dead. Peaceray (talk) 01:24, 11 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Update history (AGAIN) edit

I see by the list that a deceased woman and a deceased man was added but no mention in the update. Now how is anyone supposed to know WHO was added if you don't put it in the history? This isn't rocket science and it's not that hard. In fact, if it's too hard then don't do the update either. So now can someone tell me who was added to both lists? Or is that too much work too?
