species pages

edit

should every species listed on here be redlinked, or is it more realistic to only link to genus pages (as there are no species pages and probably will not be)? it just makes the article/topic seem very incomplete when the whole article is full of pages that don't exist. Personally I do think each taxon should be a link. Extinct species in extant genera are likely to get their own dedicated articles in the future. Species that don't get their own dedicated articles can still be linked to sections about them in the genus articles or "List of species in Example Genus articles". If we expose gaps in Wikipedia's coverage of a subject that's actually a good thing since it can encourage people to fill them. Abyssal (talk) 15:37, 14 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
yes, but most of the species pages that are redlinked on here are members of extinct genera. I understand the extant ones, but species of extinct genera like Acamptogenotia or the many other extinct taxa in the list won't likely get articles in the future because so little is known about them.
