Alternate edit

Shouldn't there be an alternate list of aircraft by refueling method? eg F-16=boom, FA/18=probe etc...

List format edit

I propose changing the list to a sortable table format. A column for the refuelling method will allow the whole list to go in one table, with the current breakup recreated by sorting on that column. It will also allow sorting on other columns/criteria as well, such as country of origin or date.

One side effect is that to allow reliable table rendering, the side gallery of images will have to be either deleted or cut back and placed either before or afterwards. The WP:GALLERY policy provides some guidance here. I would suggest that one image illustrating each refuelling method would be appropriate.

Any comments/suggestions? — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 16:52, 30 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps an intro before the table that describes each tanking "method" with an image might work. MilborneOne (talk) 16:55, 30 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
I am not sure if enough can be said about each one to fill out the space alongside its thumbnail. It might be better to summarise them and then follow that with a mini-gallery. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 08:53, 31 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
What do you think so far? — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 14:52, 1 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Here is my intended column format. Note that the current subdivision can be recovered by sorting on the Method column:

Type Based on Country Class Method Date Status No. Notes
Handley Page Type W Type W UK Biplane Looped hose 1935 Operational 1 Early trials and demonstrations by Flight Refuelling Ltd.

Any comments? — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 17:33, 3 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

No, you are doing a good job on your own! MilborneOne (talk) 18:49, 3 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. One thing I might add is that the "current status" info such as (no longer in service) will be mostly deleted and the status column used to give the historical design/production status, per WP:AVILIST. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 19:13, 3 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
