Strabane Mast
editEditted page to include this structure, since it's 15.5m taller than the tullamore mast! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.6.17.159 (talk) 14:20, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Measurements
editI have put in Imperial measurements in for these structures, most were designed in feet, and most people will be able to better understand the height in feet anyway. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.70.70.182 (talk) 00:53, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
St John's Cathedral Limerick
editDifferent sources give 280ft/85m or 94m as the height of its spire: can anyone explain this discrepancy? Joestynes 08:53, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
Buildings under construction
editI have removed this
- Eglinton St., Cork City, 80m (under construction, 70m without the spire)
Apart from the question of whether to list under spired, storeyed, or both, I don't think incomplete buildings should be listed, at least until they have reached their final height. Projects can get delayed or amended even after commencement. jnestorius(talk) 09:46, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
- I've reinserted the Obel Tower and Eglinton St buildings under a new heading. Stu ’Bout ye! 09:22, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- Well, ok; but what is the cutoff point? I suggest buildings "under construction" rather than "planned" or it will be clogged with projects that never get off the drawing board (see this list). jnestorius(talk) 16:32, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
I am a little confused why we are linking to emporis on here. having checked out the other site - skyscrapernews - it seems to have over twice as many buildings listed for dublin for example.--Gothicform 21:44, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well it certainly has lots of planned buildings. It doesn't have churches. Whatever, I've added it. jnestorius(talk) 22:52, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
Limerick
editThere's a multi-storey hotel nearing completion in Limerick, on the Dublin Road. It's quite tall, where does it fit in I wonder?
Further radio masts possibly taller than 100 metres
editWhat about the radio masts at following sites?
AM-Stations
edit- Athlone 53°25'N 7°53'W
- Cork 51°53'N 8°24'W
- Dublin 53°21'N 6°18'W
FM-Stations
edit- Truskmore 54°22'N 8°22'W
- Maghera 52°57'N 8°43'W
- Kippure 53°11'N 6°20'W
- Mount Leinster 52°37'N 6°47'W
- Clermont Carn 54°05'N 6°19'W
- Three Rock 53°15'N 6°14'W
How tall are the towers of these stations? Of which type are they? Please find out their heights and add them to the list!
Northern Ireland
editExcuse my ignorance, but should not the buildings in Norhtern Ireland be on the United Kingdom page, and those in the ROI be on this page? Or is this just a ranking of buildings on the Irish landmass? TomB123 (talk) 20:22, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
- The opening sentence of the article gives the answer to your second question. The buildings in Northern Ireland should indeed be on the UK page, provided they are tall enough to make the grade. There is nothing to stop them being on multiple pages. For example, some are also on the page List of tallest buildings and structures in Belfast. jnestorius(talk) 22:42, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
- The list structure is by state, NI buildings should be on the UK . The article needs to be brought into line with the others. Murry1975 (talk) 18:20, 20 October 2014 (UTC)
- What list structure is by state? Into line with what others? There are lots of subcats of Category:Categories by country of the form "Foo of Ireland", with subcats "Foo of the Republic of Ireland" and "Foo of Northern Ireland". I don't see that as a problem that needs fixing; if you do it needs to be raised more generally than here. jnestorius(talk) 12:12, 21 October 2014 (UTC)
Montevetro Building
editAnother site [1] gives the height of this building as 60m (rather than 67m). Does it use a different definition of the building height? Also, there are photographs of it there but I don't think we can use them? (I removed the photograph on the page because it was the of the wrong building). JohnBLambe 23:59, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
Spired buildings
editI don't agree with merging the separate lists of spires and storeys. The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat distinguishes these, and so does the general public. jnestorius(talk) 22:38, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
Churches
editI dont think church spires should be included. They should at least have a different category. Can we not have a list of proper buildings — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brancott (talk • contribs) 14:47, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
Move discussion in progress
editThere is a move discussion in progress on Talk:List of tallest bridges in the world which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 13:33, 22 April 2015 (UTC)
Metro Hotel in Ballymun
editFormely known as the Days Inn, this is a high rise building which has got little attention since it was built around 2007 (odd how a building this tall has recieved little scrutiny. It's hard to miss it). 15 stories and by my crude trigonometry estimations on Google Street View (pretty geeky I know) it comes to about 55 metres. But it could be a bit more than that. Therefore make the list. Does anyone have any sources for on the official height? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nirvanarox55 (talk • contribs) 20:41, 13 September 2015 (UTC)
St Peter's Church Drogheda
editI added this to the list of Churches. I took its height (222 ft = 67.66m) from the Wikipedia page on it. I hope that's a good enough reference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lostcarpark (talk • contribs) 15:42, 16 September 2015 (UTC)

St. John's Spire, Tralee
editSt. John's Church in Tralee is 200ft. It is taller than the church in Carlow. 77.75.244.193 (talk) 07:50, 30 March 2022 (UTC)
Co-ordinates
editHi all. Some of the co-ordinates on the page are wrong. Today when I was editing I found 'Beal Wind farm' is actually in Kerry, not Wicklow as previously stated. And the co-ordinates for 'Beam Wind farm' bring you to Donegal, not Kerry as previously stated. Maybe a few got mixed up along the way. Ridiculopathy (talk) 13:06, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
Poolbeg
editOn the Poolbeg Generating Station page it says "The thermal station chimneys completed in 1971.." whereas here it says they were built separately in 1970 and 1978. Anyone know which is correct? Ridiculopathy (talk) 21:42, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
- Separate is correct, as many photos of the station with one tower exist. Dates I can't confirm. 37.228.205.86 (talk) 21:27, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
Why are churches first?
editThis is specifically a structures list; and in particular they are nowhere near the tallest structures. If they need to be listed separately, they should be below the main list. 37.228.205.86 (talk) 21:27, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
County Londonderry
editSee Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Ireland-related_articles#Derry/Londonderry - "Use Derry for the city and County Londonderry for the county in articles." For completeness, I am aware of Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Ireland-related_articles#Referring_to_counties "When referring to a city, do not follow it with a county". I note that this article has 'county' columns which contain '[County] Dublin' for structures in the City of Dublin. If anyone wants to delete all county entries for structures in cities, then that is a matter for them. Alekksandr (talk) 18:21, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
