One big table

edit

I would like to join the tables to make them into one sortable table. Objections? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 17:25, 16 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

I removed the lede image because the table images are larger, and it sort of made sense at the time.

Some suggestions for new ideas

edit

Can I suggest that the following also get added to the list:

1. Apple pie (probably from the United States or the United Kingdom); 2. Apple crumble 3. Rhubarb crumble 4. Lemon meringue pie 5. Coconut crumble

(None of the above are puddings, and they all belong in other dessert lists.) Reify-tech (talk) 18:23, 6 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Adding semolina

edit

I see that rice pudding is in the table, but not semolina - I wonder this should be added to the list, as I am reasonably confident that it is not the same as rice pudding. ACEOREVIVED (talk) 09:36, 6 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Puddings and puddings

edit

Having a sweet old Blancmange (strangely sounds like 'white pudding' in French) in the same list with a bloody White pudding looks weird to me. Propose having two lists, one for the desserts and another for the other stuff. --Bakebread (talk) 15:28, 6 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

As I read it, there are two intersecting classifications of puddings: creamy/congealed and sweet/savory...
creamy congealed
sweet North American Christmas, spotted dick, etc
savoury ? Yorkshire, haggis, etc
The congealed (baked, steamed or boiled) puddings, whether sweet or savory, all conform to the loose definition of pudding used outside North America. Many of the sweet puddings are derived from savory puddings, and certain puddings can be classified as both sweet and savory. To someone used to the global definition, is it intuitive to have a list that includes both chocolate pudding and treacle sponge pudding, even though they are very different in form? As I am a North American, I can't tell. Where are you from, Bakebread? Ibadibam (talk) 17:31, 6 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
This article should not be split without a very clear definition of what belongs in each partition, lest we end up with WP:CONTENTFORKING. Reify-tech (talk) 18:23, 6 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
I am from a small town somewhere in La Mancha whose name I dont care to remember. Ibadibam, I understand people have thought a lot about this before my arrival. I made my case clear, it is more of a peculiar feeling than insight. I added a pudding (dessert) and a couple of pictures to the list and feel have contributed enough. Nothing more to say on this. --Bakebread (talk) 00:47, 7 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
