Talk:List of stories by William Hope Hodgson

I am in the process of generating brief summaries for Hodgson's stories, and also illustrating the many similarities between them by using the motif list. I have read most of Hodgson's stories, but not all; I have not yet read some of those that will be appearing in Vol. 5 of the Collected Fiction.

Things I would love help with:

  • Link up the original magazines of publication, if possible, to Wikipedia entries, or if none exist and you are knowledgeable or ambitious, start entries for one or more of the magazines.
  • Write a summary, even a brief stub of a summary, or edit an existing summary.
  • If you can find any critical opinion on particular stories, please include and cite it before the motif list. It is certainly recognizable that some of these stories are good, some not-so-good; don't shy away from citing a negative opinion. I have my own opinions but I have been generally trying to avoid turning this page into a set of _reviews_ of these stories. Sources for published opinion might come from critical introductions by Lassen or Moskowitz.
  • If the story is of particular significance and is worthy of a full summary and discussion, consider moving it to its own article, as I've done with a handful of stories; I think "The Shamraken Homeward-Bounder" might get promoted to its own page, while "A Tropical Horror" should perhaps be demoted back to this page. (Any discussion?)
  • If I placed a cleanup tag on a particular story, it is probably because I have only done one pass on the summary and not gone back through and verified the events, names, ordering of events, etc. If you have the story at hand and would like to fact-check it, remove the tag when you have made corrections.
