Proposed Merge

edit

The content from Major League Baseball scandals‎ should be merged here. It is not necessary to have summary text for these scandals because each has it's own article. For more information, see WP:MM#Overlap. // Tecmobowl 07:35, 22 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Errors

edit

Bruce Grobelaar was a football (soccer) goalkeeper. This needs to be moved.

Secondly, I was personally at the game when Danny Williams king hit Mark O'Neill. There was NOT a 5 minute "bench clearing" brawl. Williams hit O'Neill, Melbourne scored, the referee ruled time out, the video replay showed the hit, Williams got sent off. I remember some push and shove not a wild melee. Unless you can find a source (and I don't think you will be able to) I'd suggest an edit. Tigerman2005 (talk) 05:18, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Notable scandals

edit

This seems to be a bit of a shopping list of peoples favourite scandals. I am thinking that it may be a good idea to limit it to scandals that have their own articles, kind of like an overview article. AIRcorn (talk) 05:09, 7 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

No response so I took the WP:bold step of removing anything that did not have an associated article. It did trim out some ones that are probably notable, but I decided to take an objective approach to it in the first instance. For instance I think Tonya Harding, Mike Tyson and Monica Seles should probably be on there. I am thinking that the scandals surrounding them should be their own article anyway so maybe a redlink could be created (e.g. Nancy Kerrigan attack). AIRcorn (talk) 01:17, 1 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

How money has had negative impacts

edit

Money can influence many athletes, and although it is seen as mostly a positive impact there is more of a negative impact on the players and the sports they plat. For some it could lead to the athletes hurting other players to be part of a bounty; while for other athletes it could lead to them take performance enhancing drugs to better their performance, and in return they would be getting paid more. Money even effects the collegiate athletes who have little of a social life and have to put in twice as much work to maintain a scholarship they received than when they were trying to get said scholarship. Not only are the players are influenced by money, entire organizations can put a halt to apart of a sports seasons just to negotiate money so that it there can be an even play among owners and the players. People do see money as a positive impact, but in the end it also has a significant amount of negative impacts.71.119.120.107 (talk) 23:44, 28 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ana Ivanovic section

edit

I have read the points made, and I fail to see how it any of them are classed as a 'controversy' - more like a disastrous form slump. it should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 101.165.82.140 (talk) 15:26, 7 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

University of Kansas Basketball suspension is missing

edit

I don't remember and can't find the details, but if memory serves KU drew the longest collegiate suspension for academic misconduct in the 1970's. It's not listed.
