Untitled edit

I would like to know the smartest current serviing general in the Pakistan Army. Lets see who comments on who..

Some corrections edit

  • Maj Gen Niaz Muhammad Khan Khattak was sent back to Pakistan as CMO UNOMIG, Georgia on 21 August, 2006 after finishing his tenure. He was replaced by Maj Gen Anwar Hussain of Bangladesh Army as the CMO.
  • Maj Gens Muhammad Siddique, Arty, Muhammad Farooq, Arty, and Nusrat Naeem, Arty were all superseded on 29 September, 2008 when seven new Lt Gens were promoted.
  • Maj Gen Abdul Aziz Tariq was made GOC Hyderabad more than two years ago, which makes it impossible for him to still continue. Also, this website states that Maj Gens Rashid Javed and Mumtaz Bajwa were GOCs concurrently, and because Mumtaz Bajwa recently left GOC Pano Akil to head the ISI, Rashid Javed is GOC Hyderabad! (as Interior Sindh has two GOCs). I still don't know who is GOC Pano Akil, as The News said it was Maj Gen Muhammad Nawaz but he is in Okara. Razzsic (talk) 19:46, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Need more info edit

I still don't know who are the two new GOCs at Lahore (10 and 11 Divs), at Pano Akil (16 Div), Commandant Infantry School Quetta, the new DG Planning at COAS Secretariat after Maj Gen Waheed Arshad, DG C4I after Lt Gen Tanvir Tahir, Deputy QMG, DG Army Structuring Committee and DG Infantry after Lt Gen Muhammad Zaki at the GHQ. If someone has info, please share. Thanks. Razzsic (talk) 19:50, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speculations about the next Army Chief edit

I see this list has helped a lot of readers, and in some cases reputed defense analysts, to speculate for the next Army Chief and the next round of routine promotions from major generals to lieutenant generals. I would like to add to it that most of the additions in this article are open-sourced, which means they are not necessarily correct. For example, the retirement dates for the lieutenant generals is set by default to 4 years from their promotions. This is not entirely the case, because the official retirement policy is either 4 years or 57 years of age, whichever comes first. So, in short the general can retire early; the case in point: Lt Gen Israr Ahmed Ghumman retired 3 years after being promoted to his last rank. Also, news sources indicate that Lt Gen Ahmad Shuja Pasha will probably retire this year, as he will reach 57 years of age.

However, I do admit that some of the additions for the current posts of major generals are added anonymously, but I don't have the means to verify it. Similarly, I also want to make public that I don't have an army background, and most of my work is scanned from newspapers, television and ISPR website. This can be proved by going through history pages, as you would notice that I try to provide reference for every new entry (anonymous additions are, of course, an exception). So in conclusion, I want to reiterate the fact that if you choose to use this list, please do so with caution. Thanks. Razzsic (talk) 20:04, 8 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Reposted question: 'Superceded' in list of Pakistani Army generals edit

Would you mind adding a note to the page on what 'superceded' means? I'd consider myself a bit on an expert on how the British Commonwealth army system works, and I don't understand the reference, so it might help clarify matters for others as well. Thanks for your hard work on this page and others. -Buckshot06, transferred from Razzsic's talkpage.

It is a term more frequently used within the Pakistan Army, but has found its way in the public media recently. When a junior officer is promoted to the next rank, all officers senior to him at the same rank stand "superseded." What this generally means is that such officers have almost negligible chance of promotion in the future (there are a few rare cases, but those are exceptions rather than norms) and they complete their service years in less important posts designated for their ranks. It is also a way to signal the officers that their services in the army are no more required and they should start looking for alternate jobs. For example, when a brigadier is promoted to major general, he or she gets a fix seven years of additional service or some age limit (may be its 54 or 55). However, promotion to lieutenant-general takes place after 4 or 5 years. So the "superseded" major generals have a choice to either complete their service tenure, or stand retired. This article in a major newspaper by a former Army officer should help clarify this term. I do believe, Pakistan Army inherited it from the British Army.

I hope I have answered your question. I will try to incorporate its meaning in the article you referred. Thanks for the feedback! Razzsic (talk) 13:44, 24 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Update Please edit

Several generals have officially been retired. Are they gone or have they been extended? What does the new list look like? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.172.228.7 (talk) 20:35, 1 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Surname Dogar edit

A surname Dogar is added to Lt gen. Rizwan Akhtar and Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar. Just belonging to a certain caste or tribe doesn't change their names. It has to be confirmed by a valid secondary source as it is about the name of a living person and original research cannot be allowed. If there aren't any valid sources, it should be removed at the earliest...Rameshnta909 (talk) 20:42, 11 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
