Made for TV movies edit

Do we want to include made-for-TV movies on this page? There is already a List of Sci Fi Pictures original films page and I think that "The Last Sentinel" (released November 13, 2007) may belong there. — RJH (talk) 17:35, 21 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nightmare City 2035 appears to be a Youtube video. Has it ever been released in a theater?—RJH (talk) 22:25, 13 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Notability of "1, 2, 3, Whiteout" edit

This 2007 film appears to be an independent production that received little acclaim and is available for free download. It is not clear that this movie meets the notability requirements for Wikipedia. Is there any reason to retain it? Thanks.—RJH (talk) 20:28, 16 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Looking at the info, I consider it very non-notable. Feel free to remove it. Andrzejbanas (talk) 16:24, 26 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Two more films with uncertain notability edit

I tagged the films Nightmare City 2035 and Uchuujin from Outer Space with "list membership disputed" warnings. Unfortunately I have not been able to demonstrate that these satisfy the WP:MOVIE guidelines for notability. Is there any objection to removing these from the list? If so, please could you provide a suitable source, per WP:SOURCES. Otherwise they should be deleted. Thank you.—RJH (talk) 21:40, 14 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

These have been deleted.—RJH (talk) 21:19, 17 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Forthcoming edit

The following fill was inserted in the forthcoming list for 2009. However, I have found no evidence that it meets the notability criteria for films. There was nothing on the web to even indicate it has been released to theaters.

Source for list? edit

Hi-i was curious exactly how this list was compiled, from what sources. I'm writing a visual content analysis, a qualitative analysis of aliens in science-fiction films over this period, and i need a 'master list' of science fiction films released 2000-2009. however, i would like my master list to be of greater academic import than 'i found the list on wikipedia' which will not bode well for submitting the article to journals. is there a citation, or a list of citations, that were used to compile this list? thanks. Hello Seth, these lists were compiled originally without focusing on the importance of citations. I've been adding citations to other genres and and coming to this one now. I've added a few, but this is in no way a master list as it's hard to include films from other countries or small independent films. I've started to add citations now though. Good luck with your paper! Andrzejbanas (talk) 14:36, 5 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Seth: Two sources I used to expand the list and make it relatively complete are referenced on the main List of science fiction films article: Video Hound's Sci-Fi Experience and The Scarecrow Movie Guide. For the TV films, I used Fraser A. Sherman (2000) Cyborgs, Santa Clause and Satan: Science Fiction Fantasy and Horror Films Made for Television.—RJH (talk) 17:04, 5 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Are X-men sci-fi? edit

Strictly speaking, do the X-men movies belong on this list? They seem mainly fantasy and I don't see much in the way of sci-fi; as compared to, say, Iron Man, who is a normal person using technology to gain superpowers.—RJH (talk) 23:30, 17 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

In this book here Film Genre: Hollywood and Beyond (source), they mention x-men following the science fiction motif of genetic mutation. That would include it in there for me but I wouldn't be against having it in both categories. Andrzejbanas (talk) 23:45, 17 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Okay, thank you. Regards, RJH (talk) 20:48, 24 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

There is a brief review on "bloody-disgusting", which is a consensus reliable source. I'd say its a borderline yes. It was released straight to video in the U.S. but apparently played in Brazilian theaters. Regards, RJH (talk) 20:48, 24 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
