Merge edit

It is suggested that this List be merged with Rose cultivars named after celebrities. There is no difference in the meaning of the two lists. The title "rose cultivars" is more adequate that "roses" as it is not individual roses but the cultivars which have been named. The title of the merged article should be "List of rose cultivars names after people". The two existing list have the names of different cultivars which all have to be included.Afil (talk) 00:10, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Don't Merge edit

I would suggest that this list includes not only celebrities with rose cultivars named after them but also 'ordinary' people, therefore it should not be merged. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.9.84.9 (talk) 00:21, 27 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Correction to 'Sombreuil' edit

This is a vexed story, but as it all came out in the ARS wash: Robert's 1850 Tea is a bush-form rose known properly as Mlle de Sombreuil. The climbing "Sombreuil" of US commerce is a Wichuraiana hybrid and completely unrelated, but was somehow mis-identified with MdS in the 1940's. Solicitr (talk) 17:45, 7 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Chevy Chase edit

I removed Chevy Chase from the list. The page listed the rose variety as from 1939, but the comedian was born in 1943. Most likely it was really named for Chevy Chase, Maryland. 69.7.41.230 (talk) 16:59, 18 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
