I've expanded this page greatly, but there is little obvious objective way of defining what is and is not a prog rock supergroup, nor are there many citations in the article. Nonetheless, I think it is an interesting and useful article. I've also added a list of abortive supergroups of historical interest even if they didn't tour or release anything. Wondering about the omission of the Motor City Mad Man and the boys... DAMN YANKEES. Ted "free-for-all, NRA mutha.....,"Nugent - Guitars; Tommy Shaw (Styx alumni) - guitars, vocals; Jack Blades (Night Ranger alumni) - Bass, vocals; Michael Cortellone (Shaw's solo band) - drummage. Two very succesful albums - "Self-titled" and "Don't Tread."

Notable of all time?

I have a question- is this page only for the most notable supergroups, as strongly implied by the title, or is it for any rock supergroup that has an article in Wikipedia? The title makes no reference to this article being only for the "most notable" supergroups. As I see it, it is for any (progressive rock) supergroup that is sufficiently notable to warrant mention in Wikipedia. Bondegezou (talk) 13:54, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

The vast majority of the entries don't have citations. If you can find ones which mention that they are/was a supergroup then it should be eligible for inclusion on this article. If not, it might warrant deletion. Sikonmina (talk) 18:05, 25 October 2021 (UTC)

I don't see this article as a hotbed of misinformation. It's a list article. The relevant citations are often on the articles for the different bands and projects. You could find relevant citations there and bring them over if you want them here too. Bondegezou (talk) 18:44, 25 October 2021 (UTC)

Everything needs to have a reference unless it is common knowledge. People can simply add a reference regardless of its truthfulness. Sikonmina (talk) 19:15, 25 October 2021 (UTC)

I agree that everything needs a reference; but, as Bodegezou says, the references can be found in the individual articles for each supergroup in this list (e.g. there are no references about the band Strontium 90 in this list, but I just need to follow the link to their article to find them or, if needed, including additional references or asking for them). Explicit references may be needed, nevertheless, for bands with no article of their own.--Gorpik (talk) 07:04, 26 October 2021 (UTC)
