I suggested deletion because it's "Out-of-date [2011] and incomplete". That's been reverted. Fine. Where do we go from here?--Kleinzach 00:53, 24 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

We add up to date information. We do have to decide whether to have it be a current listing, or include historical information also; In either case, the article themselves should give the information. i'll try to make a start at it. I suppose others at the classical music wikiproject might also want to help, but this is not one of the things that requires pecialist knowledge. DGG ( talk ) 01:48, 24 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough. Any chance you would agreed to remove the football league style flags? --Kleinzach 02:59, 24 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

General comments edit

The emphasis of this article was somewhat in question in the earlier versions, because of the inclusion of the Vienna Philharmonic, which has historically not had a principal conductor. Thus it is questionable whether the true emphasis of this article is on principal conductors, as embedded in the title, or on orchestras. This is why I have removed orchestras like the VPO. In cases such as the CBSO, however, those orchestras normally have principal conductors (or in the case of American orchestras, what they call music directors), so that it is acceptable to have the words '(post vacant)' where a conductor's name would normally be, in case of vacancy.
