Claudine Beccarie

According to Iafd Claudine Beccarie has appeared in one pornographic film. If you ask me, that's not notable enough to be on this list. I think we should remove her, anyone oppose? - Duane 06:58, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Softcore/Roman Porno?

Improving the article

I recommend we take up Ceyockey's suggestions at the AfD, the third of which was to specify this list as by year of debut. I've just added debut years to the Japanese actresses. For the one actress (Naomi Tani) who was very prominent in the decade after her debut, I've added mention of that. If all entries have a debut year, we can then arrange them within year under the decade headings. Once smaller year headings have been set up, we might want to break the listing down from the 3-column format into single columns, which would allow better notation after each actress, for mention of year of retirement, etc. I also recommend decade summaries at the top of each section. I'll start ones for the Japanese industry, and hope others will follow suit for the U.S., and other countries (and genres). Dekkappai 20:46, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

You got the wrong decades

Weeding needed

So, Abigail Clayton made her debut in both the 1970s and 1980s? Bionica made her debut in the 1980s, 1990s and the 2000s? The whole of this article needs going through and these duplicates weeding out. CrispMuncher (talk) 21:20, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

I have now removed all unnamed sources of living people as clearly nobody wnated to source them in the nearly 3 months since I wrote the above. I'm not an expert on what constitutes a reliable source and I used the exact same sources as found in List of African-American pornographic actors which you SqueakBox suggested above. Before you post a warning on my talk page, double-check your own foolish mistakes because I followed your own suggestion for what you consider a reliable source. If you are not an expert on rleiable sources you should not be editing this article. I have removed all unsourced names of likely living ppl, they can of course be resotred with either a ref or evidence that the person is now dead. Somebody violated BLP restoring these unsourced names, this is a blockable offence. BLP does not demand IO discuss these removals but if you want to add any withoutr a ref you are welcome to discuss the issue, ideally at the BLP noticeboard♫ SqueakBox talk contribs 14:52, 2 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks SqueakBox for responding 4 months later without pinging me to let me know. I'm glad I'm not the only one who considers your interpretation of BLP policy as extreme if not bordering on lunacy. Orphaned references in List of pornographic actresses by decade

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of List of pornographic actresses by decade's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

List or Index?

Generally in lists items can be included whether there is a WP about that item or not. Indexes are a list of WP article on that subject. I note Kandi Barbour and Azumi Kawashima have been removed from the article as they no longer have their own WP page. This would fit in with this being an index not a list. • @John B123: "List of notable" is implied in Wikipedia lists and explicitly stated in the lead for the List of pornographic actors. In this case we have a structured list. References

Normally on lists items that have their own page on WP don't need a reference, but those without do. Someone has added "citation needed" to Tamaki Katori and Tommy Gunn, both of whom have WP pages. Can we agree when references are needed. John B123 (talk) 18:20, 1 June 2018 (UTC)

@John B123:I added to follow the existing model. But I agree, this list does not need references. 448 references difficult to verify, volume unnecessary. I am in favor of deleting them or substituting for only two (IAFD and AFDB which in this case can be accepted as reliable). No gender separation

This list is a classic case of Gender bias on Wikipedia]. Why not a list like List of pornographic actors who appeared in mainstream films, List of British pornographic actors or List of mainstream actors who have appeared in pornographic films that do not separate gender? @Guilherme Burn: Not sure how this is a case of Gender bias on Wikipedia. That said, I can understand the logic for consistency with other lists in this category, (List of male performers in gay porn films is an anomaly though) so have no objections to the change.

The use of the term "actor" in article titles can be ambiguous through. In List of British pornographic actors it is gender neutral, but in List of Pakistani actors it is male specific (as opposed to List of Pakistani actresses). John B123 (talk) 18:08, 1 June 2018 (UTC)

@Guilherme Burn:. I think List of pornographic performers by decade is ideal. I always seem to ask questions in the wrong place so don't really know the "correct" place to get opinions. The ambiguity in use of "actors" potentially covers many articles and also categories, not just this article. For consistency it might be best to start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Pornography?

There seems to be a competition amongst a few editors as to how many porn performer articles they can nominate for deletion, using a very tight applications of WP:PORNBIO and WP:RS to justify deletion. By keeping this article as a list we can include performers who may not meet WP:PORNBIO and therefore don't have their own articles, but are significant within the industry. e.g. winners of "scene" AVN Awards for example. --John B123 (talk) 15:44, 4 June 2018 (UTC)

This list is WOEFULLY inadequate

This doesn't even begin to scratch the surface. It's a shameful addition... although, I admit, better than nothing at all. If I could do it I would. I can't. I just have fond memories.

C'mon folks... surely someone out there can really add to this list meaningfully.

This is a potentially important list, to a lot of us... I was always told that if I had a question or an issue, at least 50% of the others in my class did, too... well I know this list is sorely lacking... and how many millions of people represent my "class" these days? Please... let's get it right, huh?

Featured list

This is a very popular list and I believe it has the potential to be a Featured list. Initially I would suggest:

• Merge List of male performers in gay porn films here.
• Improve the introductory text of the list, or perhaps text to describe each decade.
• Include figures. (For the iconic man and woman of each decade)

The data could also be tabulated in another way.

Agree about the introductory text and also adding an introduction to each decade.

• Genre/speciality
• No of films
• Significant films they have starred in
• Significant awards

For unknown to me reasons, porn actors are subject to discrimination, especially on the English Wikipedia. Porn (75% of internet) is more popular than football but, as of October 19, 2019, 15,008 pages are devoted to footballers while only 841 porn actors are recognized as sufficiently notable to deserve a page. Porn-actor pages have been subject to mass deletion with merely AVN and XRCO best performers of the year surviving in the English Wikipedia.

Elsa Jean, for example, has a page in several Wikipedias in other languages. When I created her page in the English Wikipedia, the page fell victim to “speedy deletion” under an incredible pretext of “unambiguous promotion / advertising.” By contrast, another page I created – Phil Foden (footballer) – survives, though I do not “promote” Phil any less than Elsa.

To avoid double standard of notability, either all footballers except best players of the year should be deleted or the limit of porn notability should be lifted to include at least winners of AVN / XRCO secondary awards and top-ranked stars on major porn sites.--Maxaxax (talk) 21:28, 19 October 2019 (UTC)

Notability

What is the criteria for the notability of a porn actress? Just realized that an old favorite (Anna Marek who was all over the web in the late 90s) was deleted and protected as non-notable. Ridiculous really. Hundreds of photo shoots not good enough? MadMaxDog 07:09, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

Anna Marek deleted as non-notable? That's bizarre. She had (has?) a dedicated Usenet group. I don't get it.

On a side note: this list mixes pornographic actresses with nude models. Very different things. GregorB 21:55, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
