There are a number of streets in Illinois named "Peoria St," normally because they are along a route toward Peoria, Illinois. For instance, the length of U.S. Highway 150 in Goodfield, Illinois, is known as Peoria St [1].
- Whether something is "necessary" is a value judgment, of course, and may be worthy of further discussion in the context of lists in Wikipedia. For now, this is the only article in Wikipedia that identifies the various places named "Peoria" and provides information on the origin of the name for each instance. In response to the flag on inline citations, the sources for this article are listed at the end of the article; that is, the article "Peoria" in Place Names in the Midwestern United States (Mellen Press, 2000), and the U.S. Board on Geographic Names.
