  • Michael Gannon, from Ireland, was the first person with Down Syndrome to work at any Vatican office, which he did as an intern at Vatican Radio in 2014. [1][2]
  • Jimmy Jenson became the first person with Down Syndrome to run the entire New York City Marathon in 2013. [3]
  • William Loughnane became the first person with Down Syndrome in Ireland to hold a full driving license in 2011. [4]
  • Eli Reimer from Bend, Oregon, who became the first teenager with Down syndrome to reach Mount Everest base camp at age 15 in 2013. [5] Previously, a 35-year-old man from the U.K. was the first person with Down syndrome to reach Mount Everest base camp. [6]
  • Giusi Spagnolo was the first woman with Down syndrome to graduate from university in Europe (she graduated from the University of Palermo in Italy in 2011).[7][8]
  • Rene Moreno, subject of "Up Syndrome"—a documentary film about life with Down syndrome.[9][10]
  • Isabella Pujols, adopted daughter of Los Angeles Angels first baseman Albert Pujols and inspiration for the Pujols Family Foundation.[11]
  • Stephane GinnszActor who became the first person with Down syndrome in the lead part of a motion picture for her role in Duo.[12]
