Vandalism

edit

This page is repeatedly subject to vandalism by unregistered users. I think it is probably eligible for page protection. I am unfamiliar with the process of getting a page protected. Any ideas? --Blacknightshade (talk) 18:43, 1 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Agree with the above. I was in the process of adding the thriller author Desmond Bagley to the list (a worthy addition, I would argue) when I noticed the names of a couple of people who can hardly be described as "famous". In ANY field. There are other names on the list I'm dubious about but don't want to remove those as I could well be wrong... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.138.98.253 (talk) 13:43, 17 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi. While I lived in Guernsey, I always understood a large property on Amherst Road, St Peter Port, was owned by the successful spy novel and military history writer, Len Deighton. Does anyone know if he actually lived in Guernsey for a while? If he did I think he'd be worth adding to the list, even though he no longer lives on the island. Don't want to stick his name on the list without proper confirmation of course. Cheers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.138.98.253 (talk) 16:22, 26 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

YouTubers

edit

There is a serious problem here with editors (usually anonymous IPs) adding non-notable YouTubers, for example Harry Shaw/Wroetoshaw [1][2][3][4][5] [6][7] and Sam Wilkies [8][9]. Having lots of followers on social media isn't a qualifying criteria for notability on Wikipedia, certaily not on its own. Without evidence of serious news coverage in reliable news sources (not blogs or fanpages) these individuals shouldn't be added (and added and added again). All Channel Islands people?

edit

Does this list include all Channel Islands people, or should I look for List of people from Alderney or List of people from Herm, or List of people from Sark? The red links tell me no, but those links are helpful to me.--Dthomsen8 (talk) 21:06, 20 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Editors, if you see green instead of red, you see the helpful links.--Dthomsen8 (talk) 21:27, 20 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

It is my ambition to have no green links on this list.

Example

There are several more for me to fix.--Dthomsen8 (talk) 21:30, 20 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Dthomsen8: Can you please specify what you mean by "green links"? TucanHolmes (talk) 09:37, 20 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Elizabeth College, Guernsey?

edit

Why is Lewis Stratford Tollemache Halliday (1870-1966), VC recipient on this list? Perhaps it is because the article about him has {[Category:People educated at Elizabeth College, Guernsey]], but how is that documented?--Dthomsen8 (talk) 22:17, 30 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Ethel Wood

edit

I have a reference for Ethel Wood being a Guernsey person, but I am unsure if it is a reliable source.

Is this a reliable source? Is it without copyright?--Dthomsen8 (talk) 16:57, 22 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
