Looking at the page history, it appears the list was once longer, but was pruned down in two edits here and here - both done Jan 5th by GB fan (talk · contribs).
There is no clear inclusion criteria at this time for this list; although in the absence of other criteria for this page, it appears that GB fan is using the criteria of if the listed provider has its own article or not. No policy or guideline requires that inclusion criteria be restricted to that level. It is a clean means of establishing inclusion criteria, so is used for several articles, but others have criteria that permits using other sources to establish what to include.
If a broader criteria is to be used here, then it should be discussed and documented on this talk page. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 02:05, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
Note: In the absense of any other inclusion criteria, I fully support using WP:CORP until such time as consensus supports some other measure to be used. --- Barek (talk) - 20:49, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
I find the current list hard to match to a list of 'notable' providers. E.g., GlobalCollect is missing, and some of the parties on this list are more like a payment method (e.g. ClickAndBuy, PaySafeCard). Is this a list of providers, methods or both? Of course, there is a grey area between methods and providers (e.g. PayPal, Skrill), but I generally tend to use the criteria: "if a consumer recognizes the brand, it is a method; if the party is targeting merchants, it is a provider". For criteria for providers, I'd like to suggest at least a global presence (e.g. more than one continent), more than one category of methods (e.g. cards and alternatives), or unique in some fashion. An alternative might be to simply list them all, there probably are around 300+ providers and 100+ methods according to my criteria. --- Aardbeitje — Preceding undated comment added 08:35, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

Need more descriptions

This page really could do with brief decriptions next to each provider, eg country, currency, first year of operation etc 80.42.197.169 (talk) 23:59, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

Yes, a sorting table could avoid to make this page replaced by a simple category. It could also be interesting to filter those which works with mobiles... JackPotte (talk) 07:58, 9 July 2013 (UTC)

Eg. GlobalCollect, although they don't have a wiki page, their owners do: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welsh,_Carson,_Anderson_%26_Stowe Jvluyn (talk) 09:19, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

Not done: Rightly or wrongly, there are a couple of entries in the table, which direct to a section of the parent company page - such as Alipay. However, this is a substantial section of that article including 6 references, 5 of which are to independent sources, and the section could form a separate article. Conversely on Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe, the word GlobalCollect appears once, with no comment or explanation, let alone substantial text and half a dozen different references. - Arjayay (talk) 09:35, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

Volume/market share

It would be extremely useful if these providers had some metric of market share (number of transactions, monetary value of transactions?) listed. Whether shopping for one or just doing market research, one of the first basic facts to know is who are the major players, and it seems like there are a lot of small players. -- Beland (talk) 21:21, 28 August 2014 (UTC)

There are of course different levels of being a 'major player', but I think the fact that this only lists providers that have an article on Wikipedia, that already ensures that everyone on here is a player of at least some note. GameLegend (talk) 22:26, 28 August 2014 (UTC)

I would like to update information in the list regarding BIPS as listed PSP provider. This info is outdated, as you can check by visiting their website: https://bips.me/ . The reason is that BIPS has been acquired by Coinify and it shall be therefore renamed to Coinify (Coinify.com). Plesae replace BIPS by Coinify and use Coinify.com as the associated web address. Aknelenkla (talk) 13:53, 24 February 2015 (UTC)

There's a problem with that: Coinify does not have an article here which means right now we don't have proof that it's notable enough to be mentioned in this list. There's a lot of websites out there that are "payment service providers" but we can't list them all here. (BIPS does have an article but that article is pretty poor and could potentially get deleted.) — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 15:39, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
