Merged articles

edit

Looks like several Houston neighborhood articles were merged today into this list. I don't recall a discussion about a planned merge or consensus to do this. Was there a reason? Postoak (talk) 23:01, 3 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I've personally never participated in any discussion, and don't see the need for the merging of the articles. A lot of information was stripped from these articles, and if there IS to be a discussion, my position is that this information should not be merged. Yeah, I don't like the merger either. The articles are better as separate entities. Kylelovesyou (talk) 02:35, 6 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Agree; no need to merge.Argos'Dad 13:16, 6 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

If you haven't already, please see the ongoing discussion at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Houston#List_of_Houston_neighborhoods. Karanacs (talk) 15:05, 6 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Many of the linked neighborhoods are not notable.

edit

Many of the articles linked to by this list should be deleted as non-notable. "Larger neighborhoods are acceptable, but its name must have verifiable widespread usage Smaller suburbs should generally be listed under the primary city article, except when they consist of legally separate municipalities or communes (e.g., having their own governments)" (from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Common_outcomes).

Let's face it, when it comes to notable parts of Houston, most of these locations are just tiny parts and the articles on them are just adverts showing off deed-restrictions, schools, and property values. Irbisgreif (talk) 14:56, 28 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

I completely agree with you, and had begun cleaning up the list. See the link above to the WP Houston discussion for the criteria that we negotiated for when a neighborhood deserves its own link. I think it is still too loose, but it is better than before. Karanacs (talk) 18:18, 28 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

East Whitney

edit

"East Whitney is a neighborhood in northern Houston, Texas. East Whitney consists of 70 rental houses near the intersection of East Whitney and Haygood. Previously the neighborhood was known to be crime-ridden. By 2010 investor John Hurd bought the neighborhood and invested $4 million into it.<ref>Arenas, Vicente.
