Luxembourg ID Card
"First issued at age 15 and only issued to Luxembourg citizens, who are required by law to carry it at all times. " This is not correct. Luxembourg can issue ID cards to cizizen as soon as they are born. http://www.guichet.public.lu/fr/citoyens/citoyennete/papiers-identite/carte-identite/carte-identite-lux-enfant/index.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.189.77.46 (talk) 12:37, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
South Korean ID Cards
There are Korean national ID cards. I'm an ethnic Korean, and whenever I visit or even watch a Korean TV show, people always mention it. I don't konw much about it though, except it's called something like "Citizen's Registry Number" or something like that.--Jettd42291 15:36, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
Japanese ID cards
Most photo shops in Japan state that the photos you get from them are valid for ID cards, suggesting that there are ID cards in Japan. Once, when I forgot my Japanese bank card at the bank, I had to show identification to the bank clerk in order to get my bank card back. As a foreign citizen living in Japan I have a special card given to me by my local ward office mentioning my name, address, status of residence and other things, but I don't know what kind of ID cards there are for Japanese citizens. Apart from the incident at the bank, I have only been asked for identification upon entering or leaving the country, when registering at the ward office, and when applying for re-entry permits, and on all of these occasions, I have been required to show my passport. There is no requirement for Irish or UK citizens to identify themselves in Ireland
All drivers of road vehicles are required to produce to a Garda a valid drivers licence, (Irish or other), which is a form of 'identity card'. Giving a false name and address may, in certain circumstances, be an offence. RashersTierney (talk) 19:35, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
This is a matter only for a status as a driver, and not as a citizen in any other capacity. British citizens in the Irish Republic, and Citizens of the Irish Republic in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland are not regarded as aliens/foreigners by the law of either nation, and therefore are not required to carry identity cards at any time, even though such cards are now available in the UK. British Citizens (but not persons holding any of the other types of British nationality) in the Irish Republic have all the rights of Irish nationals, except the right to vote for the head of state, and do not have to prove who they are.
