It seems a little bit Anglocentric to have the UK National archives up there at the top, doesn't it? I'd say remove it and let the entries in the larger list speak for themselves. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.74.92.193 (talk) 22:15, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

Could we also put the national archives of defunct states, like the Roman Empire or the Italian republics of Middle Age and Renaissance? Or should we open a special article? Lele giannoni (talk) 21:46, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

The actual articles

In many cases are little more than 'The National Archives of X are in (location Y)' or '... were founded in (date).' Much work required. Jackiespeel (talk) 22:11, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

NN entries don't belong in this list

To editor M2545: Why are you adding non-notable entries? This runs afoul of WP:LISTN and WP:WTAF. Adding bare URLs to indicate these entities exist isn't helping, either. Chris Troutman (talk) 10:25, 12 October 2017 (UTC)

Why do you consider national archives of Republic of the Congo and Democratic Republic of the Congo non-notable? Explanation would be appreciated. -- M2545 (talk) 10:29, 12 October 2017 (UTC)

@M2545: Articles for Archives nationales du Congo and Archives nationales de la République démocratique du Congo don't exist yet and WP:WTAF suggests you should create the articles before adding them to the list. WP:LISTN specifies that the items on standalone lists have to be notable and, since there's no subject-specific guideline to presume the notability of an archive, one would have to make a case by writing each of those articles with proof of general notability. That hasn't been done, so those entries should not have been added. Why did you add them and others? Chris Troutman (talk) 10:34, 12 October 2017 (UTC)

Major revamp

I am working on this list. I did it along the years, but now I changed the style to a table. I think it is a very important page for Wikipedia. Archives contain millions of items which are relevant for the purpose of writing an exhaustive encyclopedia. I hope somebody can help to improve the lead, adding some references, etc. Also, I am editing the pages and wikidata for every archive, adding missing fields and data like the year of establishment, collections size, etc. --emijrp (talk) 11:47, 7 September 2018 (UTC)
