Talk:List of museums and colleges with mastodon fossils on display

Clarification needed, scope of the list edit

The list is of museums that have mastodon fossils on display. That leaves the important question open to what degree the bones need to be complete. Is the list talking of complete skeletons, can reconstructions or partial reconsturctions be included or does one bone on display in the museum justify to put the museum on this list?

As an improvement I would like to suggest a short comment for each entry that specifies what their Mastodon display actually includes.doxTxob \ talk 21:03, 8 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I like your suggestion. I wouldn't think a full skeleton would have to be on display to warrant inclusion on this list. →Wordbuilder (talk) 21:48, 8 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Mastodon fossil at Anderson University edit

"Anderson University" is listed at as holding a mastodon fossil, per:

However, it is not specified if this is Anderson University Indiana or South Carolina. Does someone have the answer?

  • I tagged it with {{where}}. Maybe someone can clarify. →Wordbuilder (talk) 01:51, 9 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yes, but we can be pretty sure that it is either: (a) Anderson University (Indiana); or, (b) Anderson University (South Carolina) ... as is, someone may not realize that there are two universities with the same name, think we don't know Anderson University; and, if they know one of them, they may blindly switch to the one they know without checking. In an effort to try to resolve this, I put a note on the Talk pages of both universities. Enquire (talk) 04:46, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
