If Aeolis Mons redirects to Mount Sharp (Mars), and this is unlikely to change, they ought not to be linked separately (giving the illusion of two distinct links). —Tamfang (talk) 19:08, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

East/West errors

This list needs full recheck of coordinates. I think, it was (partially) made from the db from xephem: mars_db (1st external link in article). This DB uses North/West coordinate system ("# Name | Latitude, degs +N | Longitude, degs +W | Diameter, km | Feature Type"). But the list is given in North/East coordinates.

There is more actual database of montes from USGS, which can be used to regenerate the list: Gazetteer of Planetary Nomenclature (Mars,montes)

Okay, we still probably ought to distinguish elevation-above-areoid from topographic prominence, but it has been at least somewhat 'fixed-up' now and added to the article. Arlo James Barnes 16:57, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
