Page for all podium sweeps edit

I am at least the third person to add the medal sweep of the women's Swiss cycling team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics to this page. I see that it was reverted each time, and given the name of this page to be for athletics only, I can see why now. It seems reasonable that there would be a list of medal sweeps for all sports, and it is easy for someone, myself included, to make the mistake of linking to this page. Even the cycling article makes the mistake: "The race ended in all three medals won by Swiss athletes, resulting in Switzerland's first female entry in the list of medal sweeps in Olympic athletics."

Athletics has more medal sweeps than any other event in the Olympics, and that is why it has a page dedicated to it. Other events that have a lot of medal sweeps such as speed skating and figure skating also have their own pages about medal sweeps, but are really redirects to pages about their respective events. There are other events which have medal sweeps but don't have their own pages. The Swiss cycling sweep is one of them.

I propose making a page to list all Olympic medal sweeps. The best that is offered right now is a page on podium sweeps, but it is insufficient because it does not list them. There would be a lot of duplication with this page, so maybe the two pages should be combined. --Mordomo (talk) 01:59, 7 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
