Talk:List of lighthouses in Spain

Proper English designation

edit

I would like to suggest with due humility that the names of these lights should be in the correct English possessive form. eg, Malaga Port Authority would be a more correct translation than Port Authority of Malaga. Likewise Rota lighthouse (or light) is a better English translation than the rather clumsy Lighthouse of Rota. These special objects do not need a possessive apostrophe. My purpose is to improve the readability of the excellent list. Richard Avery (talk) 16:05, 28 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

The recent conversion to table format

Please give it a check. There may be some mistakes.

If you want mass changes, like alphasorting the lot (I added some new items at the bottom, so the sorting, which is roughly as it was before the tables, is not perfect), or hyperlinking all the regions, etc. please say. I can do that automatically and quickly. Also, consider giving me instructions like entering a certain body of water to all in a particular region. I can do that automatically too. I’m intending to infill the information for this list, using the modified headings shown below. Let me know if this will cause any problems...Jokulhlaup (talk) 14:50, 6 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Updated completed with many new images etc. Naming takes the form of Foobar Lighthouse, rather than Lighthouse of Foobar. Best attempt was made for names, as there seems to be no consistency in terms of whether locations (and by implication lighthouses) are anglicized (eg Cape Finisterre) or not (eg Cabo Touriñán), although Punta is usually left alone...Jokulhlaup (talk) 14:15, 19 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
