List of largest catsList of largest felids – This article is about species of the family Felidae, not about breeds of cats. Georgia guy (talk) 00:29, 20 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Criteria of ranking

edit

Okay, if this is going to be a page, we need to set some clear definitions of what criteria should be used to rank the biggest cats. Should average weight, maximum weight, length, or height be the main determining factor of these ranks? The list could be different depending on what criteria is used. Size = weight/total volume. Avg weight is given higher value over maximum weight, however none of the 10 species have higher max weight than the listed bigger species. If avg weights are identical than max weight becomes determining factor. Ishan87 (talk) 12:33, 15 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Misplacement of Item 2 (Lion) in Table

edit

Could someone please fix the missing/misplaced item #2 in the list? I think the information is jumbled on tier #1. 2602:306:CD53:A1C0:F8DF:4E3B:D2C7:84F7 (talk) 10:55, 4 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

sizes

edit

Some of the information on the article as it currently stands is misleading. The tiger is the largest of the cats, but the tables show that it may onle be larger in weight (and only in some instances). It may be best to, for all 10 of the big cats listed, list the weights and lengths averaged from the males and females (i.e., smallest female to the largest male). For instance, the Tiger🐯 article states that the length ceiling for a male is 122 inches (10 feet, 2 inches), but the same information on the Lion🦁 article says its variation tops out at 82 inches (6 feet, 10 inches). This article measures in meters and makes it seem that lions are on average of greater length, which is false. 72.174.131.123 (talk) 17:22, 21 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
