Uncertainty over name edit

Haydn's Book of Dignities, which is where I got the list, gives the appointments for 11 Nov. 1863 (page 802) as

  • Seramudi Rajahye Hindostan Raj. [break] Rajender Sree Mahar. Dheeraj Sewall Ram Sing, Bahadoor of Jyepore.
  • Furzund Dilbund Rasekool Ilahgad Dowlut-i-Englishia Raj. Suroop Sing Bahadoor of Jheend.

And then in the list of Knights promoted to GCSI in 1866 (page 801) the first of these is listed in two separate entries as

  • Seramudi Rajahye Hindostan Raj.
  • Rajender Sree Mahar. Dheeraj Sewall Ram Sing, Bahadoor of Jyepore.

as if this were two people. There are separate entries in the index for "Jyepore, Bah. of, G.C.S.I. 801; K.C.S.I" (page 1060) and "Seramudi, &c. G.C.S.I. 801" (page 1130). I think this is probably just Haydn/Ockerby mistaking an (admittedly pretty lengthy) Indian title for a separate Indian name, but hopefully someone more knowledgeable than I can confirm. Christopher Buyers' Royal Ark site often gives the full long title for Indian rulers, but I'm not sure there's a section on Jaipur and the site's down at the moment anyway. The "Seramudi Rajahye Hindostan Raj-Rajender" bit isn't included at this site. Opera hat (talk) 11:07, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
