Geese!
editHi there from your shipboard snooper... :) Goose Island goes to places beyond our shores - and the following exist!
GOOSE ISLAND WA IS (Islands & Reefs) Official -34 04 123 11 - Goose ISLAND WA IS (Islands & Reefs) Official -35 04 116 43
Suspect some clever DAB work is required there! :) SatuSuro 13:53, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks, fixed. For now I've redirected both to Goose Island (Western Australia). We can worry about it if and when anyone decided to write articles on one or both. User talk:Hesperian 23:24, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
Solved. Been to Geographic Names card index this am:
Goose Island (Cape Arid) 34 04 50 123 10 50 was named by Flinders 15 Jan 1802
He named it after what were then known as Bernacle - now Cape barren Geese
Goose Island (Irwin Inlet) 35 04 09 116 43 40 was named by Commander W.E. Archdeacon October 1877 after the same type of geese
So I suggest that the name should be Goose Island (Cape Arid, Western Australia) and Goose Island (Irwin Inlet, Western Australia) - please let me know if that is the best way to go before I put them up as arts - save time later :) SatuSuro 06:00, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me. User talk:Hesperian 06:35, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
another one
editNice list, sunday Island theres 3 all linking to same article. Gnangarra 09:52, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- i delinked the Pilbra and near Dirk Hartog Is and tag where they are in remarks column Gnangarra
- You'll find that throughout the list. Where there are multiple places with the same name in WA, but no article for any of them, I pointed them all to the same place because:
- I don't know which, if any, are prominent enough to merit placement at "Place (Western Australia)"
- In some cases this might be best handled by having a single article to cover multiple places.
- I've converted Sunday Island (Western Australia) into such a page.

- not that I have a solution!? Fred 13:09, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
- Politically they are in Western Australia. If you think it reads poorly, you could s/in/of. Hesperian 22:14, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
- I think fred is out at the moment - but I would put my vote in for of - just my chook vote for this am SatuSuro 00:49, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- Indeed I was, sorry. With my idiot goggles on I have an image of islands in lakes of WA. Islands around Western Australia? Hesp is right with political, but of 'sounds' right I think. Or ...
- Islands not in lakes of Western Australia but in the political oceanic boundary of Western Australia (subject to contradictions by Federal goverment claims on oil fields or immigration policy)
to allow me to sleep at nights? Fred 12:18, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Since when did you do that ? SatuSuro 12:23, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Too long
editThis page as over 1,000 entries! I plan to sub-divide it, sooner or later, unless someone else does so first. I suggest 200 should be the approximate maximum. Andy Mabbett 09:43, 7 April 2007 (UTC) Andy Mabbett 09:43, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
- I'm sure there was a pop song about it being a long way to birmingham - well its a long way from one end of western australia to the other - we have a number of long lists - if you have a problem with one - you should see how we cope with other geographical features and items - breaking up into alpha lists of so many at a time - if you have no experience of western australia as a geographical entity - its worth looking at a map and seeing why we have large lists for the state... probably best to leave it for the moment - and bringing the subject at a more open forum of the western australia project talk page would be the best idea... Now done. Andy Mabbett 18:33, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
