Page Criteria

Sections and additions should meet all the following:

• Sections should be on the topic of hyperspace and or subspace. Try not to used in franchise terms. Terms you do use, explain and be brief.

• If you add a part to the list, it should have some meat to the section explaining how Hyperspace or Subspace is used in the franchise being added.

• This is a list of Hyperspace Depictions in Science Fiction not a list of Science Fiction that has Hyperspace in it. On Wikipedia, most franchises have there won mention (their own page). This page is not for the rendition of Science Fiction franchises. Rule of Thumb: If it's more about the franchise then it's about subspace and hyperspace, it probably should go in that franchise own page and not this page.

Hyperspace in Star Wars?

Is this image accurate? I seem to remember star wars ships "jumping to light speed," (which presumably keeps them in truespace) not making use of any kind of hyperspace drive - though I could be mistaken. --NEMT 08:46, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

• They call it a "jump to light speed" in the dialogue but refer to the mechanism that gets them there as a "hyperdrive," so it seems it could be interpreted various ways. In any case, the image is highly evocative of the concept. 24.124.16.165 08:53, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Instrumentality of Mankind

Is the section on Space2 in the Instrumentality universe accurate? I believe the rats/dragons of Space2 have nothing to do with the Great Pain of space from the era's of Scanners and Habermen. Wasn't the threat of the rats/dragons was first in the story "The Colonel Came Back from the Nothing-at-All"? Freelancepolice 21:33, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Known Space

In the Known Space series by Larry Niven, first introduced in "The Coldest Place" (1964), hyperspace is ...

This is misleading in that "The Coldest Place" occurs (unless I misremember) before interstellar travel, before alien contact, and thus before hyperspace is known to humanity. Wouldn't it be better to cite the first Known Space story to mention hyperspace? —Tamfang (talk) 18:36, 8 October 2010 (UTC)

Melissa Scott's Heaven

If the listing of various fictional representations of hyperspace is retained (or moved elsewhere) an addition to it would be the concept of heaven in Melissa Scott's Silence Leigh trilogy. I read them quite some time ago (when they were new), but my recollection is that it was a unique representation of hyperspace, where essentially immersing your ship further into heaven gave greater objective velocity, and more skilled pilots had greater ability to push their ships into heaven via more powerful "spells." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.191.166.202 (talk) 19:00, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

No Doctor Who?

If Doctor Who has subspace or hyperspace in it then it may be in the example section; an account of subspace or hyperspace in Doctor Who. Otherwise, it would be out of place in this page. Personally, I think the arguing in the [talk] page speaks to people's passion for science fiction and don't mind the dissenting ideas. https://tardis.fandom.com/wiki/Hyperspace ← Doctor Who and Hyperspace. As it stands a lot of the examples are not on topic and need to be thinned down and focused. I think working on the problems with the current page should take priority. Seamus M. Homeworld series section deleted

Hello

Article section "Homeworld series" is deleted in accordance to Wikipedia:Verifiability because of lack of source.

I (and most other reasonable Wikipedians) do not just nuke everything that does not have a citation footnote; some times, it is appropriate to add a {{Citation needed}} or {{Unreferenced section}}. But not this time. In comparison with the rest of the article, this section's prose had a far inferior quality, prompting me to search for its origin: The contribution on 16 May 2008. Comparing the two revision, it is obvious that the section is edited by at least two editors who had a different opinion of the matter and most of the section is potentially synthesized.

No prejudice against reinstating section with appropriate citations, with regard to WP:BURDEN. I might even consider renting the game(s) if verifiability required it.

Homeworld definitely belongs on here. The game literally calls it "hyperspace", and as it was the first ever 3D RTS (first ever depiction of what this article is about, as such) and extremely lauded and influential, it seems like a weird omission. Volound (talk) 08:08, 24 May 2019 (UTC)

Removal of Colony Wars/Red Sun
