Orphaned references in List of highest-grossing films based on video games edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of List of highest-grossing films based on video games's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

List of highest-grossing films based on video gamesList of highest-grossing films based on games and toys why is it just video games why not board games, card games or any other sort of game (sports should not count as they have there own page see List of highest-grossing sports films) Fan Of Lion King 🦁 (talk) 21:15, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • Comment I've fixed your request as it was malformed. – MaterialWorks (contribs) 22:58, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose This is an unnecessary increase in scope - video game movies are in themselves a notable topic, making this article pass WP:LISTN. Films based on tabletop games should have a separate article. (I should add that video game film should almost certainly be an article, in the vein of superhero film) ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 10:57, 23 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

I do not think other tapes of games will not justify it own page do some research the only films that would be added are Battleship,The Lego Movie and a few others Fan Of Lion King 🦁 (talk) 12:02, 23 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

There have been numerous D&D films and a number of others as shown in the relevant category. It may not be nearly as big as the video game list but there are still enough to create a list. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 12:09, 23 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose Seems a bit too broad (for example, expanding it to toys would mean that things like Transformers and G.I. Joe would be included, which is a pretty different thing from Video game adaptations). I think trying to expand it might make the page too unwieldy. 98.228.137.44 (talk) 18:17, 23 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Here a draft I think we should to attempt to see what we could Fan Of Lion King 🦁 (talk) 20:06, 23 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

draft:List List of highest-grossing films based on games and toys (version 1)
draft:List List of highest-grossing films based on games and toys (version 2)
  • Oppose - Most reliable sources categorize this genre as "based on video games". See Variety: "“The Super Mario Bros. Movie” the biggest video game adaptation in history, topping the grosses of..." -Shivertimbers433 (talk) 23:41, 23 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose - The proposed page would be waaaaay too broad. Video game movies (Mario) and board game movies (Clue, Battleship) are completely different. As well as "toy" based movies. Yoshiman6464 ♫🥚 18:30, 27 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose - I would personally rather have two different pages, one for video games, and the other for board games. For example, these pages would be List of highest-grossing films based on video games and List of highest-grossing films based on board games. That way it doesn't cause more confusion. SlySabre (talk) 21:13, 29 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

@SlySabre: that is what version one pf my proposal is (for toy and board games) with sports and video games not being on the page as it is here if you or anyonelse willing to work with me to development that page i would be happy to close this discussion Fan Of Lion King 🦁 (talk) 21:34, 29 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
