Talk:List of footballers with more than 50 international goals/Archive 1

If this page is only going to list male footballers, shouldn't the title reflect that? Based on the current title 'List of footballers with 50 or more international goals' it seems like Abby Wambach should be #1. 173.166.109.49 (talk) 14:07, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

I agree; the current title is inaccurate, or at least misleading. With the current title, it looks like the article is leaving out at the very least the 14 athletes listed on the List of association women football players with 100 or more international goals page, and doubtless more. Godfrey Chitalu

Why was Godfrey Chitalu removed in this edit from the list? --Kompik (talk) 14:37, 16 December 2014 (UTC)

Why is the title of this not List of male footballers

Underneath there is "list of female footballers". The title is not accurate because it does not list all footballers, only male footballers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2620:0:1000:3103:10EA:417B:7843:1C25 (talk) 22:33, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Robbie Keane

Do Goals aganist Gibraltar must be included? Կարեն Վարդանյան (talk) 21:12, 4 September 2015 (UTC)

this list is so wrong

the list has huge errors you are counting deleted goals and not full A game matches for example Kunishige Kamamoto has 22 scored at Olympic Games Qualifier and finals which is not recognised as full A team mathes by fifa same goes for Hussein Saeed he has 12 goals at the olympic + 5 deleted goals from gulf cup 1982 because iraq quit that tournament and all their result were deleted — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheShowStealer (talkcontribs) 16:03, 14 February 2016 (UTC)

Active players

I see that Robin van Persie is not displayed in bold in the current revision. Did he retire from international football? I do not see any mention of that in the Wikipedia article about him. The change was made in this edit. --Kompik (talk) 07:33, 26 June 2016 (UTC)

Scoring In Consecutive Years Record?

I was investigating Robbie Keane's record, and he's scored at least one international goal in 19 consecutive years - 1998–2016 inclusive - and I was wondering if this is a record? I've done some investigation and only five players had a career span the same as Robbie (19 years), or greater - Hossam Hassan(Egypt, 22), Imre Schlosser(Hungary, 22), Fandi Ahmad(Singapore, 19), Romário(Brazil, 19), and Carlos Ruiz(Guatemala, 19) From the list of Hossam's international goals - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_international_goals_scored_by_Hossam_Hassan - he didn't score in 1995, 2001, 2002, or 2003 According to RSSSF, Schlosser didn't score in 1921-1925 - http://www.rsssf.com/miscellaneous/schlosser-intlg.html Ahmad didn't score in 1984, 1986, 1988, or 1994 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fandi_Ahmad Romario didn't score in 1991, 1992, or 1993 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rom%C3%A1rio Ruis didn't score in 2009, 2010 or 2013 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlos_Ruiz_%28Guatemalan_footballer%29

The only player I can find that comes close is Hungarian striker Imre Schlosser-Lakatos who scored in 16 consecutive years from 1906-1921 (inclusive)

Can WikiProject Football verify this as a record? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tetsujin1979 (talkcontribs) 10:31, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

The title is misleading

The title is missleading. A goal made in a club competition is also an international goal. I'm aware RSSSF uses this definition of international goal as goals scored in the national country matches only, but it still is misleading. IFFHS definition of international goal, where goals made in matches with the national country or with the club should be mentioned as international goals. What the article is displaying here is the players with more goals in official games playing for his national country.

Hossam Hassan's International Statstics

What is the actual number of official international appearances that Hossam Hassan made and the offical number of goals that he scored for Egypt between 1985 and 2006? The List of footballers with 100 or more caps page currently says 178 appearances, but his actual wiki page says 169, and the list of all-time goal scorers page also says he made 169 appearances (and scored 69 goals). The two FIFA sources on his page (169 appearances; 69 goals) and the RSSSF (178 appearances; 68 goals) source cited on his page appear to be giving conflicting information, and the stats table further down shows a different number altogether (176 appearances; 68 goals). Any help would be appreciated, thanks! Best, Messirulez (talk) 05:28, 10 October 2017 (UTC)

Ali Ashfaq

Wikipedia Page of Ali Ashfaq of Maldives shows he scored 52 goals in 78 Matches. Should he be in this list? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 103.220.17.29 (talk) 08:40, 7 September 2018 (UTC)
