Irving Berlin's music

The section, "Determine Copyright Registration" assumes Turner has obtained permission from Irving Berlin's estate for the use of the music in In The Army. Unless Irving Berlin performed the music, I would assume the music is covered under a compulsory license and Turner would merely pay a royalty to the estate. I'm not an expert so I would appreciate another opinion.

PD Status of "Freaks" / Should "It's a Wonderful Life" be added?

Firstly, is there a reliable source that confirms the copyright status of the movie Freaks? Secondly, should the movie It's a Wonderful Life be added to this list, since it appears that films qualify for this list if the only copyrights involve underlying works? -- Elegie (talk) 12:04, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
