Additional fatal attacks:

• 2024-06-17 Bloemfontein, South Africa: No name, 28 F, 4 pit bulls. Three dogs were shot and killed by police. The fourth was taken, along with its puppies, by the SPCA. [8] The victim's boyfriend, owner of the dogs, was arrested for violation of the Animal Matters Amendment Act No. 40 of 1993. [9]
• 2022-11-23 Eastern Cape, South Africa: No name, 15 months M, pit bull. Boy was killed when he was playing with a neighbor's pit bull. [10]
• 2015-11-15 USA: Carter Evan Hartle [11], 11 months M, Pit bull x Shar Pei. Attacked by the 2-year-old family dog while playing in his home with his siblings. The dog was euthanized.[12] [13] [14]

• South Africa December 28, 2022 Melitta Sekole: Victim was attacked on December 23 while walking to work, and died on December 28. The 62-year-old owner of the dogs was arrested and charged with culpable homicide. The dogs were surrendered to be euthanized (in the sowetanlive citation).
• South Africa November 12, 2022 Mosime: Full name is Olebogeng Mosime. [15] Trial. [16]

• 2024-03-13 Norma Montenegro (Argentina): Date of death is May 18, 2024. Prosecutors are discussing charges for the dogs' owner. [17]

New:

• 2024-04-26 Bronx, New York, USA: Kaheem Robinson, 41 M, pit bull. The dog was biting its owner's throat when responders arrived at his apartment. They shot and killed the dog to stop the attack. Robinson was pronounced dead at the hospital. [18] [19]

• 2024-04-22 Salerno, Italy: Francesco Pio D'Amaro, 13mo M, 2 pit bulls. The dogs attacked the baby who was being held in its mother's arms. The mother was injured trying to stop the attack. The dogs were confiscated. [20]

• 2024-04-21 Tuxpan, Jalisco, Mexico: Liam, 2 M, pit bull. It is presumed the child approached to pet a neighbor's tied-up dog, and it attacked him. [21]

• 2024-04-20 Leblon, Brazil: no name, F, pit bull. The woman was attacked by a pit bull, transported to hospital, but did not survive. [22]

• 2024-04-12 Portsmouth, Virginia, USA: Cindy White, F, 3 pit bulls. A woman walked into a house to visit the male resident and was attacked by 3 pit bulls. The man tried unsuccessfully to stop the attack. Neighbors arrived later and blamed the man and beat him up, sending him to the hospital. The dogs were euthanized. Police noted they had responded three times in the last year for incidents related to those pit bulls, and neighbors recounted several aggressive and biting incidents. [23] [24] [25]

• 2024-04-03 Misiones, Argentina: Hipólito Jesús Duarte, 64 M, 2 pit bulls. Duarte went out for a run and was attacked by the dogs. When responders arrived, Duarte was already dead with wounds to the face, head, arms and legs, and his clothes had been ripped off. The dogs attacked the responders who then shot one dog and followed the other back to its home. The dogs' owner was charged with manslaughter. [26]

• 2024-02-25 (attack), 2024-02-27 (death) Bernardo de Irigoyen, Misiones, Argentina: Angelica, F, 3 pit bulls. Two homeless people were attacked. The man was seriously injured, and the woman died two days later in hospital. [27]
