Talk:List of entities and changes in The World Factbook

Flags edit

I see that the French flag has been used in the article instead of the unofficial flags for Mayotte, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Wallis and Futuna, and the DOM-ROMs. I agree strongly that the Wiki should use whatever flag the government has approved and the populace generally uses. However, the flags listed now are unofficial flags for these areas (the CIA admits this; see Mayotte) that are used by the CIA in the Factbook. Because of this, it has been my intent with this article to focus on the unofficial flags, since the article is about the Factbook.- Thanks, Hoshie 11:56, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

July 19. 2007 WFB edit

Changes in the July 19. 2007 WFB include renaming East Timor to Timor-Leste and removing Iles Eparses as they have been merged into the French Southern and Antarctic Lands. Guess that would also change the count by one. -- (Shocktm | Talk | contribs.) 20:58, 20 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

recent additions to the table edit

Hi everyone,

I recently found out Antarctica, the World, and the (then four) oceans were added in 1988. However the source states these areas were more than 40 entities added to the World Factbook. If anyone has access to a good library, could someone post a full list of the additions? I'm trying to get my hands on the 1988 Factbook, but due to the books age, its a bit hard. - Thanks, Hoshie 11:44, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Tokelau edit

How come clicking on Tokelau links to New Zealand? Hypershock (talk) 10:16, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's been fixed. Thanks for noticing! - Thanks, Hoshie 15:27, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Recent changes: tables, dates, refs, etc. edit

Hello all,

I recently made some changes to the article. Here we go:

1) The lists have been redone as tables and the size of the flags have been increased somewhat for visibility.

2) Date links have been removed and broken ref links fixed.

3) I changed the date of the Factbook cover to this year. I have also fixed the reasons in the table so the refs check out.

I hope everybody likes this. - Thanks, Hoshie 07:00, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Recent edit: big ref cleanup edit

Hello all,

I recently was browsing through the Wayback website and found most of the changes from 1996 until the CIA switched to HTTPS in 2006. I have used these instead of mirrors since links break. Before there were some broken links marked; these have been fixed. Hope this helps. - Thanks, Hoshie 07:45, 17 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

About the Afghan flag... edit

The current Taliban flag of Afghanistan does not appear in CIA's website. I highly recommend to change it. Also some countries have civil and state flags (Bolivia, Peru etc) the CIA commonly uses state flags. JoãotheWikiFan (talk) 15:33, 29 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
