American Black Duck

The American Black Duck is referred to in this list, but isn't on the list. Why? Unfree (talk) 03:37, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

This list of duck breeds is very confusing

There are several duplicate entries in this list. After a fair amount of research, I now understand that a given breed may have different names across various poultry associations, but it took me quite a while to understand this list. An explanation for casual readers is in order.

The capitalization of breed names is inconsistent, as well; an explanation would be helpful. I tried to standardize the capitalization when I discovered that certain wikilinks were case-sensitive, but my modifications were yanked.

All in all, the list looks like someone's pet project rather than a proper list of domestic duck breeds. It has caused a fair amount of discussion on the BackYard Chickens (http://www.backyardchickens.com) by people who were expressing dismay and frustration at state of this list. The cryptic notes in parenthesis next to several list items need explicit clarification; they are incomprehensible to many people.

Please consider converting this list to an annotated sortable table to explicitly display the accepted names by poultry association, and so remove the need for the cryptic notes and duplicate list items.

Bourbon Duck

I can not find any references/sources for a duck breed by the name Bourbon Duck. The only thing I can find is a food dish called Bourbon Duck. Gbsmit03 (talk) 15:37, 13 May 2016 (UTC)
